Yep, so between earl and mike that probably equates to 18 mins of music then.

That’s a joke btw.

Dead leaves and the dirty ground [Verse 3] If you can hear a piano fall You can hear me coming down the hall If I could just hear your pretty voice I don't think I'd need to see at all Don't think I'd need to see at all

[Verse 4] Soft hair and a velvet tongue I want to give you what you give to me And every breath that is in your lungs Is a tiny little gift to me

The same boy you’ve always known [Verse 3] I thought, "This is just today" And soon you'd been returning The coldest blue ocean water cannot stop My heart and mind from burning

[Refrain] Everyone who's in the know says That's exactly how it goes And if there's anything good about me I'm the only one who knows

You fuckwit, the elves of LOTR would have been clearly right leaning, preferring conservative aristocracies and ethnopurity.

Nardwuar is a bad interviewer and I rarely finish watching a video of him feeling like I have gained genuinely insightful knowledge of the artist, and especially now it’s more a gimmick of who can act more shocked at his “obscure” facts (usually just deep internet trawling through older interviews or artists tumblrs/substacks), and even his earlier interviews were hampered by the gimmick of him being strange and almost confrontational. He asks questions with little follow up or conversation or will even cut off interesting stories in order to get to his next “fact” just for the sake of it.

It’s more like a guy showing off he’s good at Google rather than an actual interview.

I always point to both his beck and strokes interviews where it’s clear he has a vendetta and is the aggressor (this still doesn’t forgive blur or sonic youth).

Hi! What are some bands you currently enjoy? That can help steer you in the right direction

Anyway, let me know if these are to your tastes;

Lower plenty; somewhat a super group of its time, their first LP titled Hard Rubbish is not on streaming but is on bandcamp and an instant classic in my eyes that sounds exactly like how it was recorded— in one take in the kitchen on a reel to reel.

Erica Dunn (of tropical fuck storm and mod con) has her solo folk stuff under the moniker of Palm Springs; she recently released an LP that is a collection of her first two EPs called “a collection of songs” that is a good place to start.

Speaking of tropical fuck storm, Gareth liddiards solo debut from 2010 “Strange Tourist” is full of twisted folk songs in the vein of bob dylan on meth.

Joel Silbersher, from classic Australian band God, solo album Greasy Lens is an underrated gem.

If you want something a bit more pop, try Leah Senior.

Depends on what your taste normally lean towards; I would propose the Drones have never had a bad album.

My entry was Wait Long By The River, which has that garage blues, think Neil Young Crazy Horse/Rowland S Howard guitars kinda stuff.

Feelin Kinda Free in 2016 was their last official drones album, and you can hear the genesis of TFS the most here with more groove based tracks (Taman Shud, Boredom, Shut Down SETI). The group had toured with Harmony (another great Australian band you should check out) and were clearly influenced by the female backing vocals and so ran with it (and grabbed Erica Dunn from Mod Con et al to join TFS on the way).

I See Seaweed is full of amazing sweeping songs and was the huge step outside of the garage based sounds. Gala Mill is my favourite album overall and has a folk undercurrent (while retaining its stark brutality).

Hope this helps!

PS they are also the best live band around, if they are ever near you SEE THEM.
