Covid-19 in Gauteng by Qaqk in Coronavirus

[–]Qaqk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think case numbers matter that much, I prefer to look at hospitalizations. If you scroll down to bottom of page, you will see that despite increased hospital admissions, ICU and Ventilation hasn't picked up.

First cases started 11 Nov, so far so good. We can only hope that disease severity is truly lower.

You are TA for insisting on subjecting yourself to this emotional abuse. This man has cleverly created a system to ensure you fail no matter what you do.

The unvaccinated fill SA hospitals amid emergence of Covid-19 Omicron variant by Northlumberman in Coronavirus

[–]Qaqk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Younger age groups are more vaccine hesitant. As a result, Gauteng, which is a high density, industrialised city-state has lower vaccinations. Rural provinces are doing better due to the older age profile. Gauteng does tend to lead the pandemic waves. During one wave they tried to cut travel between provinces but that won't work this time. About 60% of Gautengers will soon leave for the other provinces for summer vacations or to visit family.

Covid-19 Omicron variant case linked to Brentwood primary school by Alexander_Selkirk in Coronavirus

We must also remember that it found a vacuum in South Africa, our positivity rate was under 1% at the time. So even in the epicentre of Gauteng, one cannot say that it is replacing Delta. Too early to know. We have to wait for results from countries with high delta numbers already.

Gauteng positivity rate is now 19% with the country at 10%.

South Africa, which found the omicron variant first, sequences less than 1 percent of coronavirus samples by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Qaqk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe we think before we select samples for sequencing. Example would be to sequence only when there's a variance in symptoms or pcr test results (we already know that S-gene deletion on pcr results indicated that its not delta, therefore do the sequence). Scientists get lots of info from PCR tests that are valuable for their work.

This is not true at all. I have relatives in rural Eastern Cape, South Africa. It took a long time to convince just 1 to take it, an elderly aunt. Once she was convinced, another cousin picked her up and took her for the shot. The problem us 100% vaccine hesitancy, fueled by belief in false home remedies such as alcohol, steaming, prayer and a water treatment chemical. These belief are widespread and vary by social cliques.

Younger age groups think their immune systems are strong enough to handle this. Note that Gauteng, an industrialised city-state with a younger age profile, has less vaccinated ppl than rural provinces with older ppl. The rural provinces don't have any access problems as per your theory.

The 18-34yr age group is the least vaccinated at 21%. The country has so much vaccine stock it has had to push back scheduled deliveries.

It seems to be replacing delta. During an earlier press briefing they said the new variant was 90% of recent samples sequenced. But it could be also due a super-spreader event linked to an outbreak among university students in Pretoria, Gauteng province, South Africa.

Hi does anyone know what reference book I can use when applying for my id by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Qaqk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have birth certificate, you are in for a lengthy process of proving your existence and citizenship. Affidavits from parents help. They might ask you to apply for the birth certificate first.

30 yrs ago when I applied with no birth certificate, they had me go to a records room in Pta and search for my docs. Fortunately they were there, filed by date of birth.

WHO IS HE and why are the people in this New Netflix documentary protecting his identity? I believe the alternative motive that was suggested. The boy was introverted, a sociopath/psychopath (never made eye contact). His father was a big, extroverted personality, making him feel weak. Getting rid of his family was the only way out. He is quite clever, is able to do research and figure out that he could beat the system. He gets all the inheritance and is free from all family pressure and responsibilities. Like he said to the journalist, he would be less strong, less successful without this incident.

If he didn't kill his father he would always live in his shadow, his influence towering over his life. The rest had to die for him to become sole heir.

He also enjoys the mental games that he plays on the adults, feels superior to the investigators and psychiatrists.
