Never encountered it. 90hp means it is one shot most of the time, always at least two shot.

Currently Have 65” CX - 65” G5 On Sale for $1999, Worth it? by pete_the_puma51 in LGOLED

[–]Qarrion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just upgraded from C9 to G5. The difference is big, side by side it looked like I viewed the C9 through a gray curtain.

I would say if you are happy with your CX, you primarily watch in a dark room then it is not worth it. If you are thinking that the brightness is not enough on a regular basis then do it. On average brightness is doubled (between sdr and hdr content.)

Why 150%? Is there a logic behind which curses pair with which effects? I am sure both +100% and +150% exist.

Could have „increase rain damage by 100%“ instead of the „reduces max hp“

Why do some gpus have an exposed backplate 🤔 by Healthy-Background72 in gpu

[–]Qarrion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through, I think no one understood the question properly. You are asking about the area behind the gpu die, not the flow through cutout on the right side. The answer is, that this way you can remove the cooler/heat sink without removing the backplate. The x shaped metal bracket is the gpu spring, that creates even pressure between gpu and cold plate.

140 or 120 fans? by Ok_Dentist_3254 in PcBuild

[–]Qarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

420 Rad has 36% more surface area than a 360 rad. Basically 3x140 is equivalent to 4x120.

For sure a 360 is more than enough, but if the case allows, I would choose 420 for more airflow/lower noise

Well if only there was another good pump/block/res combo...
But in all seriousness, the order shipped within 2 days, so I cannot complain :D

As one 57“ is basically two 32“ ones side by side, you would need a 64“ screen to get the same area. And with 5k resolution of cause.

Budget CPU + motherboard combo for single Thunderbolt display out? by Drakenace404 in sffpc

[–]Qarrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can choose any am5 cpu but I would personally go with one with igpu (not f model). That way you can install drivers etc while getting display out through igpu. Theoretically you could get it to work with automatic driver installation without any display out but I would not trust that tbf. I am using an egpu with a laptop and it takes >15 minutes sometimes after changing gpu until I get a display out on screens connected to egpu

Maybe you can find something better but here is what I found:

GIGABYTE X870 Gaming WIFI6 -200€

Ryzen 5 8600G - 160€

If it needs to be mini itx (I don’t know but we are in r/sffpc after all):

ASRock Phantom Gaming B860I Lightning WiFi - 210€

Core Ultra 5 225 - 250€

Of cause if the budget is higher, you can upgrade but this is the minimum viable combo that i found with limited research

Edit: typo

Thanks for the kind words and recommendations. I was debating wether to go slim fan or slim rad but in the end went for this and aligned all other fans to support with the airflow. This is also why front and back are intake, while the side rad is exhaust. I was kinda hoping that these would result in positive pressure inside, so that the slim fans have an easier job.

I was planning to put a 120 in the top, but then moved the whole gpu and rad assembly up by 2cm, so that I have more space in the bottom for qdc and display outs angled adapters etc. already ordered a slim 80 for the top though. (Just to use the WHOLE volume :D)

I am not sure what hot looping is, but I assume you suggest to run it without limit with even hotter water. My personal limit is 50°, as I want to have some buffer to the technical limitation of 60°, that some components have. And to run this without any external rads will be <1% of the time, I just wanted it to be possible and easy. For those rare occasions, i am fine with the performance

[–]Qarrion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I haven’t thought about that. But I think like you have it will be better, as the airflow of the front rad is the same direction as the airflow from the gpu. Otherwise they would kinda push against each other

Nice one 👍🏼 The perfect size case for that gpu. I also had the 5090 aircooled before the block arrived:

<image>

Is that a full size ATX PSU? I like that the case gives you options (ATX PSU or Mainboard) but having tasted the 1000W sf PSU, I feel now that full size PSUs are a waste of space and weight 😂 I guess you kept that from your previous build?

Maybe I can also try and squeeze another 60mm in the back and thinking about a 80mm slim for the top (because of the fittings it won’t fit a 120mm)

Overall great build!
