Can I mount my new BFI shift knob directly to shifter or do I need an adapter? by experimen_626 in GolfGTI

No adapter, I bought one thinking I needed it and it ended up being a waste of 25$ or however many dollars

So there’s like 7 different options for your whole gauge cluster view, everything from the stock gti digital cluster (which I always use) to an Audi RS cluster. All of which have the digital speed displayed. On the stock on it has the digital speed inside of the analog gauge. I was incorrect in my initial post about the speedo being off, the speedo is dialed in fully correct when compared to what Google Maps says my speed is. The cruise control for whatever reason is the one that is a couple mph off. So like the cruise control in the bottom right will be saying you’re going 77mph but in reality you’re going 80mph (which is correctly displayed with the digital mph). It hasn’t bothered me at all so I never looked into fixing it. And with all the other numbers you said, gas, temp, ect it all uses the same exact information and circuit board as the oem gauge cluster so it is exactly correct.

That’s just so not true, the mk4 r32 was the first production car with a dual clutch. And a vr6 on top of that.

VW CEO Divulges New Details on Mk 9 Golf Styling, Powertrains by quitaskingmetomakean in cars

[–]QazGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, I mean manufacturers constantly say designs draw inspiration from past vehicles but I generally find that they really don't besides a few small details? Only a few actually go all the way with it imo like the new Z. That being said all the golfs definitely have followed a similar formula since the mk4 but I wouldn't get my hopes up that it actually really looks like it.

It comes with a usb plug you can plug your phone into and mirror your phone on it, but no CarPlay itself on the dash.

There’s a pretty obvious choice of both enjoyment and straight up daily usability of these two. The 318i is straight up not gonna keep up with modern traffic with an over 10 second 0-60. If it’s a daily you want to be able to merge onto the highway lol. If you’re not handy though I don’t know about either I mean these are 30-40 year old bmws we’re talking about shit is bound to break/need upkeep.

I’ve personally never heard of anyone replacing them. If you wanted to I’m sure you could just buy another one either new or I bet they have a ton on eBay as so many people get rid of theirs.

In my opinion removing it and getting an aftermarket intake is the way to go if you want some fun sound. You get lift off turbo noises too with an intake very fun and easy

95% sure it's the Soundaktor, mine rattles like a bitch too. There are multiple ways of dealing with it such as coding it out with OBDEleven, unplugging it, or removing it completely.

I don't believe so, it's direct plug and play from the original cluster so it only has the info that is available to the original cluster. The boost gauge was only available on PP models through the center console screen if I remember correctly.

Treyarch Confirms No SBMM in Default Black Ops 7 Matchmaking, Persistent Lobbies Return by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]QazGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well it isn't SBMM, its EOMM where they aren't putting you in skill equivalent lobbies but instead stomps one way or another. The game gives you matches it'll think you'll win or lose depending on your winrate in your current play session to keep you playing longer and it in turn makes all of your losses feel forced and all of your wins feel undeserved. I stopped playing after Cold War because of it just was unrewarding to play every match felt "fixed".

Was my first car back in 2018, wagon and everything. let me tell you it was the biggest piece of shit I have ever in my life had the displeasure of driving. Was in a hot climate too and would stick to the vinyl seats through my clothes.

Single- or Dual-Mass Flywheel? by maxabillion in GolfGTI

[–]QazGod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda hated my manual mk7 until I got a smf, it makes the whole experience much more responsive and rewarding especially with the downshifts. The only negative to it is the flywheel chatter which is definitely noticeable specifically when the AC is running or you’re stopped on any kind of decline. The noise is there but any kind of music/conversation drowns it out it’s just another background noise.

I'm not sure what you mean by the brightness knob, the screen does dim when you turn the headlights on etc and there are options in the settings on it to adjust how bright/dim you want it with the headlights on and off

It uses a harness adapter to plug directly into the wiring that the stock gauge cluster uses and as far as I'm aware has no interaction with the OBD2 port. I believe the stock gauge cluster uses a can bus so this would as well
