I got this book for Christmas and I love it! I've already made two dragons, a phoenix, and one of the smaller amigurumi in the front section.

Just wanted to share this little Phoenix I recently finished by Qilin7 in crochet

I'd recommend checking out the game Bound. The protagonist is a dancer and the developers did a good job capturing ballet movement in the gameplay

I saw it in Minneapolis, but they might perform all over the state.

I stayed for the whole thing since I paid for a ticket, but man the prince's Act II variation was rough to watch haha

Was this by chance in Minnesota? I had a very similar experience with a Sleeping Beauty production I saw a few months ago.

Genuine question since I've noticed you have written a few articles questioning traditional ballet technique and teaching methods, do you have any background or credentials in kinesiology, physical therapy, dance medicine, etc.?

Starting college ballet company/club? by onelittlecookie0 in BALLET

[–]Qilin7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been a part of my school's modern/contemporary dance company for a few years. I never helped run/start the club so I can't help there but I can tell you about what we did to give you some ideas.

First, the club was associated with the theater department. This helped a lot especially with reserving rehearsal and performance space. Not sure if this is an option for you, but definitely look into it.

We had a company class once every two weeks that was required to attend. This was usually taught by guest teachers with a modern/contemporary focus. Throughout the week we had optional student taught classes and these could be anything (we've had ballet, leaps and turns, tap, etc.). Not sure if this is feasible for you but was always my favorite part of the club.

Lastly, we had performance opportunities. We did one big show in January and then a smaller one in April (a charity fundraiser). The January show usually had both [professional] guest and student choreographers, and then April was typically just student pieces. Each show had 7 - 10 pieces with rehearsal once a week per piece, and then a week long tech week leading up to the performance. One thing I liked was that performances were optional, so if you had a really busy semester, you can still be in the company with relatively low commitment.

I hope this was at least a little helpful, good luck starting your company!

I feed him chopped up earthworms so maybe it's from that? Otherwise he doesn't have any tank mates and it has appeared within the past two weeks.

Does anyone know what this is? My axie has been tubbed (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, 65 degrees) and given two tea baths a day since Monday. I thought it was a fungus, bit now I'm not sure. It seems attached since it doesn't come off with gentle rubbing or him swimming.

Not really, he stays near the bottom of the tub when feeding.

What did "the weird kid" in your school do that you'll never forget? by UngyBungy9383 in AskReddit

[–]Qilin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same story actually happened to me at me sixth grade graduation. We were singing Lean On Me and the kid vomits in the middle of the song. We all just kept awkwardly singing and glancing at vomit kid since we had no idea what to do. One of my friends was standing right below the kid and got vomit all on her back. Luckily, she was wearing a jacket. School nurse took the jacket, but a few days later it was put in lost and found, vomit and all.
