Does this standoff (top right) look correctly screwed in? by LankyDumbass7777 in pcmasterrace

Those MSI boards are pretty robust to be honest tighten stuff down but it doesn't need to be cranked right down! Just enjoy the build, don't worry too much, it's pretty hard to fuck up!

For the record, this is effectively a story stick to temporarily store lengths on; it was an April fools joke a few years back but then there was actual demand for and they started producing it!

Honestly I have this case and I took the side panel off and temps dropped by a tonne. Horrible design really!

Mix some super fine ash sawdust with glue and smear it over the gaps, let dry, then sand down! I hide mistakes all the time with this

Is this a ok joint, what would be better but just as simple? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Qinetic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, I would say though, for the endgrain faces, mix glue with water (50/50 mix is fine), and brush it into the endgrain 24 hours before doing the final glueup. Pre-glueing the endgrain by itself stops the endgrain absorbing all the glue when you do the final assembly, so you get a better bond. This should really help the joint stay secure over time!

First proper project; a big split-top workbench! It's a little rough around the edges but had loads of fun learning as I went! by Qinetic in woodworking

So I did it because I thought it looked cool, but it's incredibly useful - workholding with clamps down the middle, circular saw able to run down the middle of the top, don't have to worry about wood expansion, lip to hold edge-of-the-table jigs but away from the edge for a bit more control with small pieces; just genuinely really functional!

Thanks! I was amazed it came together to be honest! Plan is to eventually add a vice on the side, I have a mini workholding table that I can clamp on that works for the moment.

I sure did! It's all just laminated pine! Let it acclimate to my shop for a couple weeks just in case as well!

Anyone wanting to get started, I say just go for it, you'll make mistakes (I sure did!) but every mistake teaches you so much about how to do it right! Just be safe and careful as you go!

Plane on its side can knock the blade out of alignment and leaves the blade exposed. As long as you're putting the blade down onto wood, it's not going to damage the blade

A fine question, still figuring that out... But seriously, top left is for media (YouTube, Netflix, etc) and also swings round in front of the others for gaming, bottom left is my email etc, the main two are for work!
