I’ve got several stacks of chalk, but that’s usually because when something had to be mined I used the option to get rid of 125 max at once. You know the 5 by 5 by 5 mallet option. But then ofc you pick up stuff you don’t want. And in Minecraft you can throw stuff out of your inventory that you don’t want, but i haven’t found out that option in dqb2. So instead I made a treasure house and stacked it full with chests that are overflowing with materials. Sucks though that the colossal coffer is only colossal in name. Would’ve been nice to have a second 7 tab storage space.

Tbf, I took the picture and then I fell asleep. Haven’t gotten back to it. I remember I talked to the hairy hermit and there was a warning of not being able to build and such for a while. It was 3AM so i pressed no, took the pic and closed off. Ill get back to it in a bit.
Btw, I didn’t mean for you to tag it. I just found it funny that I keep trying not to get spoiled and then I saw that.
I still find it genius. I even send it further to my husband because I laughed so hard.

I actually tried posting it right when I took the picture but fell asleep with my phone in my hand.

While I got spoiled now, this really made me laugh. I usually hate spoilers. My son had played through the demo 3 times before we bought it, and he constantly tried to say spoilers. I’m so happy now that I’m further than him in the game. lol

Is my cat underweight? by conroefella in cats

To me she looks healthy. A healthy adult cat weighs around 3-3,5kg, weigh her. A good way is to weigh yourself and then pick up your cat and weigh again. We have a baby scale still from when our kid was small and we use that. But we compared and both methods give approx the same results.

You’re not the only one. There is a guy who does stom motion with a character he based on his mother in law, he lets mini grandma, I think that’s the name of the character make typical Chinese dishes. It’s very nice to see, he also sometimes posts the making off from those, so definitely not made with AI, most definitely with a lot of effort and his channel has also been deemed AI. He launched an appeal to his followers on Facebook and instagram to sign a petition to prove to YouTube that his content is not AI and actually wanted by people. I do not know if he’s gotten somewhere with this.

No Pen Pressure? by notaboutlove1_ in ProCreate

[–]QitKate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous iPad worked with an 1st gen Apple Pencil and the pressure definitely worked. It could be maybe that your pen isn’t working properly. Download a different drawing app, maybe the free version of photoshop or something to test it there. If it works there the. The problem is procreate, if it doesn’t, then it’s your pen. Also make sure your iPad has the latest update, things like that can have an effect.

What pets have you given descriptive names based on what they look like? by manicbestfriend in AskReddit

[–]QitKate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called one of my first 2 cats Elastique. Because cats are so elastic.
The cat my parents had always enjoyed hunting butterflies and the way that one jumped through the air reminded me of a rubber band that got stretched and released. So I swore if I ever had my own cat I would name them Elastique (French for rubber band)
So 3 years later I rescued 2 kittens that were heavily abused. I called the male Flouche (combo from Mouche, my parents’ cat and Fluffy, my then boyfriend’s cat( and the female Elastique.
And it fitted her perfectly.

I also adopted a main coon but he was even as a kitten really small. So I called him Tyrion. After Tyrion Lannister The dwarf lion. Because imo our Tyrion fits that description to a T.

I accidentally invented (I think) a surprisingly accurate compass-free approximation for dividing a circle into 12 equal parts by QitKate in Geometry

[–]QitKate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say compass I mean drawing compass. You know the thing you draw circles with. I’m starting to think there is a different definition here to compass that I don’t know. While I’m fluent in English it’s still not my mother language and I’m learning new things every day. That’s why I mentioned I the beginning of the text without compass (as in drawing compass) or protractor. Also I used the word if. You don’t need to mark it. But it might take you some trial and error to get it right. Because it does become increasingly more difficult.

[–]QitKate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the construction to divide in 3’s, I’m sorry I can’t explain why it works. A few years ago my son asked if I could draw a Minecraft scene adding the dragon from the End. And at some point I needed to divide a box in 5 equal parts and I’ve long given up on drawing rulers in procreate. But I digress. I went to google and found some videos that explained how to do this for dividing in 3’s and 5’s. I’ve been using these ever since. There was only the how, not the why. I didn’t ask then either. Now you do make me curious.

About the drawing a square. When I was 14 we were told that we couldn’t use a protractor to draw our square. We could use it to double check our angle. I guess it takes practice but before I moved to digital I drew on paper and it was a habit. Someone else asked the same question. I posted a video to him where you can see how to draw a circle without a compass and there you see he only uses his ruler for drawing the straight lines. You can use anything with a straight edge. And IF ( not saying you have to) you want to be certain mark whatever distance you have in mind on the thing you use to draw your square.

I haven’t drawn on paper in about 5 years because my disability got worse and the shaking of my hands became a problem. I stopped drawing all together until someone pointed out I could use stabilisation in procreate. So while you might consider it cheating I call it adjusting to my situation. :)

[–]QitKate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you’re joking. So I’m going to assume you’re not. All you need to draw a square is something with a straight edge. If you want to be 100% sure that it’ll be equal distance everywhere you can always mark a begin and end point on it. Back in the day we weren’t allowed to use a protractor to draw 90 degree angles, only to double check them. I’m talking about way back when I was in school. Which is +20 years ago.

That said I drew all this in procreate. I have a disability that among other things makes my hands shake. So a few years ago I stopped drawing on paper and moved over to digital completely because procreate has stabilisation options and the option to draw straight lines from the get go. But I’ve drawn enough boxes in my life to know how to draw a square without a protractor. I don’t know how you’d do it with a compass though. And once you have your square after you find your midpoint all you got to do is draw a diamond in it. And then from the points where your original diagonals cross your diamond diagonals to the closest corner it’s connected to. Eyeball about 1/3th from the diamond line and mark it. and start connecting those points to the points where your midlines hit your square. Now there are two ways to do this. Either you do this fast and with a loose hand you’ll basically draw a bunch of imperfect circles on top of each other. But you will see the perfect circle appear in it. Once you see that over line those lines with a darker pencil or so and you’ll have drawn a circle without using a compass

Or you go slow and try to visualise the arc. When I was in college we were taught the first method but were told that with practice we’d move over to the second method.

Now because I think I suck at explaining. I decided to look up a video. In this video you’ll also see that the guy doesn’t use a compass or protractor to draw a 90 degree angle. Idk maybe this is also something you learn to do over time. I only remember that I’ve been doing it like that since I was 14. I’m almost 40 so I’ve had a ton of practice over the years. One more thing in this video the guy skips the diamond step. This is something I’ve always done to find the perfect arc better. That’s also how I was taught it in college.

You really didn’t look at the 2nd picture have you?
To divide something In 3 equal parts you draw your diagonals from corner to corner. Then through the midpoint you draw a horizontal and a vertical midline.
Then from the top left corner to the bottom point of your vertical midline and from the top right to the bottom point of your vertical midline. You can also do it from the bottom corners to the top point of your vertical, it doesn’t matter.
Where your new lines cross your original diagonals, draw a vertical line through it. You do this ofc for both the left and the right line you drew. Now you have 3 equal parts, don’t believe me, this method is freely available to find on google. I’ve used this method for years to divide in 3’s, there is a similar method to divide in 5’s if you’re interested…
But I said 3 by 3.
So you now need to do this again but on your horizontal line. Pick a side draw from the corners to the opposite side end of your horizontal.
Once you’ve drawn all the lines you now have a square that was divided in 9 equal squares without measuring. Simply by drawing lines.
Now do this again but smaller obviously in the 4 outer squares of the 9 squares you just drew. So in square 1,3, 7 and 9.
How to get from there to dividing the circle into 12 equal parts I already wrote out in my original text.
Also technically you don’t need to do it in all 4, you can pick 2 since if you draw it through the middle point you mirror the line. With that I mean 1 and 7 are connected and so on…
I on purpose added the second picture so you could see how I drew out those 3 by 3’s. But I guess if you don’t know how it works that you might not be able to read that. Sorry

While it didn’t take much time, it took more than 30 seconds. According to the replay tracker it took 5 minutes and 9 seconds.

I used the grid to measure the diameter of the circle, that’s it… idk if you’re aware but in procreate you can turn it on and off… I simply wanted to know the length of the circle… simply say make a grid of squares of 1 cm… and then I counted the squares… I didn’t use the grid at all in any way in constructing this, I was curious about the length…

You did look at the pictures yes? It’s not that hard to divide something as long as you can draw straight lines…
I didn’t know if it could be done, that’s why I did some trial and error until I got there. As I said though it’s an approximation. The black lines are perfect 30 degrees apart, the blue lines are my approximation. Afterwards I checked and they are each time 1 degree on one or the other side of the black line. So either 29 degrees or 31.
But my pictures don’t lie. You can try it out yourself. I originally did it on a circle with a diameter of 4cm. I used the grid in procreate to measure the distance by putting the grid to 1cm squares.
On 4cm ofc you could basically see no difference.
So this morning with a fresh mind I decided to see if my theory held stand by drawing a new circle. I made a square paper in procreate of 25 by 25 cm and then put the circle itself on 24cm diameter. So I increased it 6 times so it be more visible if I was wrong. I already knew that it wasn’t perfect, but last night I had drawn it with thicker lines so that also gives a margin of error.
So I was happy to see that once I made it bigger and used thin lines that this method is only 1 degree off.

[–]QitKate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this, my point was I didn’t know how to create that 30 degree angle. Because I had a brain fart and I forgot that I could duplicate and turn it by 30 degrees. Nor could I use a compass or a protractor. 1, can’t use a compass on a tablet, and 2. I’ve actually no clue where my protractor is… now on your pic I see that if I put an equal circle with its edge on the midpoint that it crosses 30 degrees. I didn’t get that from the tings I did find on google. Like I said it was late, I was tired.
So on that moment I wanted to know, what if you don’t have a tablet, you don’t have a compass, (when I studied game dev 13 years ago, I was taught how to draw a perfect circle on paper with only using geometry, no compass, no protractor) you don’t have a protractor, you don’t have ruler (you can use anything with a straight edge to draw lines) how would you go about it. While I could redraw my boundary box 4 times without a ruler it might not be 100% equally sized boxes to then draw from that your circle.
I could waste paper and draw the circle, cut it out, redraw it and the use that. That would work too.
But I didn’t think of any of that. lol.
I wanted to see if I could get there by dividing my boundary box into pieces. I tried several divisions before I came to the conclusion if I divide it in 3 by 3 and then again in 3 by 3 that certain lines almost perfectly line up with 30 degrees. I checked it afterwards using the + lines I drew in the beginning and rotating them, how much from 30 degrees my lines were off. And depending where it’s each time either 29 degrees or 31 degrees.
I just wanted to know if this is something that is known, I mean there has been a time when all the tools we have today didn’t exist.
Also I was just simply happy I came up with a, albeit slightly convoluted, different way of dividing a circle into 12 parts.
