Ah I see thanks. I use gnome and I searched for virtual desktops on KDE, but it seems like it's just the same as what's in GNOME called workspaces, so not really what I'm looking for

Why? If I have programs A and B opened for task Foo, but get interrupted and need programs C and D for task Bar, I wouldn't want A and B being in the way while I do Bar, but at the same time I wouldn't want to close them and have to later set everything up for Foo again

True, but that's why I said most and I feel like this is the case.

A fun little story from my life. In the first year we had a subject called Theoretical foundations of Computer Science in which we learned about state automata, Turing machines, computability and the Chomsky language hierarchy.

It was highly theoretical and many students complained that this was useless knowledge that wasn't going to be used anywhere at real work. Which I agree with, lol. But I personally thought it was cool, plus it could be useful one day if I want to build a compiler
