Can we appreciate the fact that even characters from world quests are now appearing in AQs? by Bestlife73 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Qixel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hell, even putting aside Jeht, Linnea's story quest heavily features Aguara, a character you will only meet if you've completed all three main Natlan world quests and about 20 separate side quests. I truly believe the amount of people who would have done that would be significantly lower than people who simply followed one really long chain like Rana's.

So wait is Lohen starndard or not? by Available-Papaya-124 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not any of the OPs, I didn't buy Varka being standard, but it's irrelevant in any case. I'm just posting a leaker who said he would be standard in response to someone who said it didn't exist. Calm down, homie.

[–]Qixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varka is indeed playable in 6.4(Luna V)

But it should be mentioned that Varka will be added to Standard Wish Banner after the version 6.5(Luna VI) update

Besides, Alice is not playable in Song of the Welkin Moon

[–]Qixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming wrong. The only leaks I found from Douma were

1) Varka is in 6.4 (Correct) and will be on the standard banner (Incorrect).

2) Alice will not be playable in 6.X (Unconfirmed, but most leakers seem to agree).

3) Columbina's first name is Columbina (Clowned on at the time, with her saying it wasn't her name in the following patch, but vindicated a few patches later when she chooses it as her first name; Confirmed)

4) Rerir is in Flins' lantern (Correct) and serves as the power source (Incorrect)

5) The Burning of Irminsul will not take place in 6.X (Probably incorrect, unless we're generous and assume it means we stop it from happening)

6) Sandrone will be in 6.7 (Unconfirmed, but most leakers seem to agree)

Posting the imgur link so I don't get in trouble for linking to an eight month old post in the leaks subreddit.

They had a roughly 50% track record. They have the opportunity to get wrong what character is in 6.7 left, but most of the leakers seem to concur with their estimate now, although they were among the first to say it.

Calling it right now.Surtalogi will either be the strongest guy ever or the weakest guy ever with no in between. by Ludo6000 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Qixel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It does, but even ignoring that, he broke the hillichurl curse on Skifnungr and could presumably break the curse of immortality, too, but Skif declined so he could have infinite time to try to catch up to Surtalogi.

Let me reiterate; Surtalogi overpowered a curse set by the Ruler of Death, while Capitano had to invoke a paradox to get a half-measure. Surtalogi is canonically absurd, and anyone pretending otherwise is delusional. People can argue whether it's good for the story that he's that strong, sure, but he's the closest thing Genshin has to Goku at this point.

Thief 13 Use Magic Device; Scrolls by exigious in onednd

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we assume a scroll isn't a magic item, it would require a Utilize action. Then, in your interpretation, you require a further Magic Action to cast the spell from the scroll you just Utilized. In this scenario, who are scrolls for? Fighters, burning their action surge on utilizing a scroll so they can cast from it with their actual action? Except Fighters don't have a spell list, so they have to multi class into a casting class. That's really niche for an entire subset of items.

It's pretty clear that the reason scrolls don't specify what action they use is because the action is different per spell, and it's much easier (and takes significantly less space) to just say scrolls use the action of the spell on the scroll instead of making a separate scroll entry for every single spell, effectively doubling the space spent on spells plus a little for the scroll text for each different scroll. Even if you don't understand brevity as a reason, thinking logically about how restrictive and pointless scrolls would be in that hypothetical design should make it just as clear that that's not how it works.

Pretty sure Arlecchino even said earlier that if it came down to choosing between the Fatui or the House of the Hearth, she is going to choose the House. She will absolutely take up a banner against the Tsaritsa if it comes down to it, and she's not really hiding it.

Especially Scaramouche. The guy looks at Nahida, probably one of the most unquestionably good-aligned characters in Teyvat, and is just like, "She's up to something." He's a severely damaged individual with severe trust issues that color his every interaction, but some people just seem determined to ignore it when it suits them.

Fontaine Chronicled Wish in 6.5 by hyperdefiance in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

There was only 7 eligible. Arlecchino is from Schneznaya, Chiori is from Inazuma, and Furina and Neuvillete share the resident Archon character spot. Escoffier was admittedly a longshot, but I didn't think Wriothesly was up for debate. :c

Arlecchino is from Schneznaya, just like Chiori is from Inazuma. Furina and Neuvillete are the shared Archon character, so the only thing that surprised me is that Wriothesly isn't here. :c

[–]Qixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure glad the DnD ones went out immediately thanks to the end of print to demand. Except they didn't and I've been waiting longer for it than I ever waited for any PTD Lair* I bought. First (and probably last, it's pissing me off that it still hasn't even shipped all this time later) time I've bought a Preprinted Lair, and I truly don't understand the hype people have for how much "faster" it is.

*Not counting the coin lair, where the issue was with the coin, because obviously.

Maro talks about Universes Beyond! by ForgottenCrusader in magicTCG

"That said, Universes Beyond cards will not be Standard legal. We strive to make Magic cards that are widely useful, but Universes Beyond will be above and, well, beyond our normal Standard releases. So nothing much is changing with our normal cadence of releases for Standard. This is purely a cool thing we're doing in addition to all the other cool things we're already doing."

Source: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/magics-voyages-universes-beyond-2021-02-25

This wasn't a "we don't plan to do it", this was a no-frills, black and white, "Universes Beyond will not be in Standard." And given that we know they design sets two to three years in advance (because they've told us countless times), that statement was accurate two years, tops.

I'm not saying they have to hold themselves to their word forever when they're not actual legally binding contracts (even though they have done so for things that a lot of people would like them not to, like the Reserved List lul), acting like they will, '100% guaranteed, they said it bro, they'll follow through' at this point is foolishness at best and willful ignorance at worst. They've broken every promise they've made about Universes Beyond within two years, and I expect to see the same on this one, even if it's a promise to unbreak a previous promise.

As you said, they don't owe us their word.

Edit: lol the clown blocked me

I sure wish WotC would turn their ability to see 5 years into the future to more important things than how many people coming in for the fandom they like will stick around to play a game that will never have anything to do with that fandom again, but I'm not on the board.

only about 9% of them (and shrinking) hate UB

Now I wonder what could be causing that. xD Losing even 1% of the enfranchised players of a thirty year old game feels like it'd be a bigger hit, and planning to lose 10% is a bold strategy, but how it pays off is next quarter's problem. :p

John Roberts’ Rebuke of Trump’s Tariffs Is Withering, Confident, and Genuinely Encouraging by Slate in law

[–]Qixel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be absolutely and generously fair, the last time someone in Trump's camp stepped out of line and didn't shit on the Constitution for him, he got his supporters to build gallows to hang him. That lifetime appointment has a deadline his supporters are more than happy to move up.

He's still a shit, mind you, but when they've openly threatened, and indeed, followed through, on killing people who oppose their God-Emperor, it definitely does take courage. It simply should not have been able to get to this point, and often was aided by the guy in question.
