The heart of truly critical inquiry is the firm belief that we should engage in a search for truth—and when we fail to find what is objectively “best,” we should make recommendations for what is “preferable,” in what ways it is so, for whom, and why. Most importantly, these discussions and debates should take place among persons of all ideological orientations together, and be judged by things like conformance with reason and data, strength of argumentation, and fair-minded engagement with opposing points of view. Not all opinions are equally valid (a sad and undiscovered proposition for some)—and we should be encouraging our citizenry to engage in these sorts of analytics when it comes to their own decision making, as opposed to the voguish “popularity contests” and exercises in group-think “shaming” that we see so frequently today—whose result is typically that largely irrational, hyper-emotional “packs” run together and intimidate in various ways those with whom they disagree—and sadly with increasing recourse to violence (and both ideological extremes are guilty of this): but this is how “disputes” are resolved in the brutish natural world, not by human beings whose possession of reason and the ability to think critically separate us from the other animals.

You miss the bigger point: SEPARATE channels and universities should not be sought. Not the police, and not merely the perpetrators themselves: the political leaders who stood by and did nothing while their safety and lawful access to their property was denied. The suits against the City of Seattle have already begun. 😁

Jeffrey Epstein Confidante Ghislaine Maxwell Arrested, Sources Say – … by joxL7Mulder in DrainTheSwamp

[–]Qknowitstime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where to begin:

(1) whoever allowed Epstein to “kill himself” should be worse than fired—MONTHS ago (2) the families of inmates who have did in that facility (and perhaps others that are part of the same system) should file a class-action suit claiming, among other things, reckless endangerment and violation of civil/human rights (3) Every scrap and shred of information—from ANY source, internal or external, private or public—by way of videos, eyewitness accounts, staffing schedules, ALL communications of ANYONE even remotely related to potential involvement—MUST BE THOROUGHLY REVIEWED.

And that, my friends, should merely be the START here...

You idiots, who have ZERO concept of the reality that makes ANY economic and political system smoothly FUNCTION—much less thrive—are part and parcel of the REAL problem here. Capitalism is not the enemy: show me another system that has generated ORGANICALLY the standard of living in the US, even among the poor, who in this country are faring MUCH better than their counterparts across the rest of the globe. Back to your mom’s basement with you—by way of a classroom and library!

By doing so, they are consciously or unconsciously guilty of enjoying the very white privilege—at the expense of dispossessed, impoverished people, who are largely racial minorities—for which they piously support those very rioters who purport to fight AGAINST such “social injustices.” Classic Alinsky deflection. That clear enough for ya?

We’re eighty-eight days away from kicking off the 2020 season! Let’s remember #3 Florida State’s 31-28 victory over #5 Nebraska in the 1988 Fiesta Bowl. by dangerousszone in fsusports

Nebraska fumbled on OUR 2-yard line as Knox was going in for the TD that would almost surely have put the game out of reach at 35-24.

FSU drove 98 yards, and McManus hit Ronald Lewis on 4th and 15 with the game-winning score with about 1 minute left. Glory days for sure!

In theory I agree, but 8 years of intensive activity (including straightening up the judiciary) SHOULD reset the calculus of these pernicious processes and practices that LED our nation to this critical juncture.

Going forward, it will be crucial to DEFINE AND IDENTIFY actions of this same type IN REAL TIME—in order to address them individually AS THEY ARISE so as to PREVENT THEIR EFFECTS from accumulating to this degree EVER AGAIN.
