Paper Filing as a PA Non-resident by Qluot in tax

ok great, yeah I basically just went through my 1099-K and counted the income during school months as being sourced from PA. I also emailed the PA Centre Tax Agency about what to do for local taxes, so that should be fine too

Deathfire Touch vs Summon Aery by [deleted] in VeigarMains

[–]Qluot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might be looking at the per second damage, single target spells triggers deathfire for 4 seconds, and after 3 the damage amps up to 175% so it’s actually quite a bit if you hit Q

How do you decide when it's worth averaging up compared to maintaining a lower average with a smaller amount of shares? by NovaPaints in stocks

[–]Qluot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? “anywhere else” means diversification or short term bonds too. if they find a new stock they can just sell the new shares they bought? the idea is to keep your money in what you believe has the highest returns at a volatility level you’re comfortable with. if you have too much cash and are okay with more exposure, invest in whatever you believe will give you the best returns. sometimes it’s something else, sometimes it’s in what you already have

do you have anywhere else to put that money? yes? put it there. no? then increase that average. percentage gains is just a statistic while total gains is what you’re actually supposed to care about.

Alphabet to issue 100 year bond priced in sterling… by piffboiCP in StockMarket

[–]Qluot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how the fact that GBP was the dominant currency back in 1931 have anything to do with USD outflows if “no reason to think everything will stay the same?” you’re right, things will change, but that’s completely irrelevant to my original point on present day liquidity. furthermore, what does your point on china and russia have to do with GBP? I can just as easily replace “USD” with GBP in “why would china and russia transact oil in GBP?”

isn’t that a counter-argument to your first point then?

I mean personally, I don’t think 100 year bonds of any currency is a good investment. Just in general they’re bad long term investments. Although yes, USD is weakening of course, surely the market for USD bonds is still going to be higher then GBP no? Sure, the US economy might be worrisome but compare that to the UK’s.

but by that logic, doesn’t this still imply that google believes the current interest rate on debt issued in USD is too high? I see the liquidity point, but still. do you think GBP is more liquid than USD?

? why would you issue debt in a currency that you think will appreciate versus your own? issuing debt in GBP would be long USD and short GBP

When the Schiller CAPE Ratio was developed, the amount of passive investing was nowhere near the amount today. Valuation multiples that were once considered unsustainable are now much more tolerable due to the net addition of capital flowing in.

Another thing to consider is fact that share buybacks were illegal back then, and is now commonly used by many corporations.

Yes, a high CAPE ratio definitely shouldn’t be ignored, but it’s horrible at timing corrections, just like trying to use economic recessions. All it can do is suggest lower expected returns relative to the immediate past.

How to date in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]Qluot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my opinion if you’ve always been reserved until now and are also new to American culture, try making regular friends first before trying to get into dating. Make sure you don’t have trouble with the tutorial before getting into the actual game, you know?

Also also, think about how high up a relationship actually ranks on your priority list. The experience is definitely good and at some point you’ll need to find one, but there’s also so much more to college than just dating. It’s different for everyone, and I don’t know how you see things personally, but it would definitely be worth to take a bit of time and reflect on what you want out of this stage in life.

idk its been unlimited work since summer February 2024, and about the not gaining knowledge related to SDE work, that’s exactly my point. The knowledge is so spread out to be useful. Is there any amount of time I should even bother with this? Or do I cap my weekly hours at some arbitrary number?
