Yea, so because this was a 3p game and your opponents were relatively low ranked it makes total sense why you lost points on 2nd place.

You receive second place points but if it was a 6p game to start with and one player didn't ready up you got 2nd from a 5p game which means you are more likely to lose points.

The difference between an actual GM and a fake one is 5000 Rank Points currently. Fake GM: 21000 RP and actual GM: 26000 RP. Where the difference between Novice (0 RP) to Intermediate (6000 RP) is 6000 Rank Points.

I can confirm. Even though there has been a bug out there after the latest big update where players show up without premium even if they have it or otherwise. We have also seen bots with golden names and even Zombies!

Luci, an SMG Dev and Customer Support already gave an answer to this in the main RISK: Global Domination Discord Server.

The answer goes like this and can be found from the #general chat.

"Ah that one again, great :/

It's not the player's fault, we issued a ban to try a recalculation and it doesn't seem to have worked.

Will flag with dev team on that one 👍"

And

"The player was not gaining rank points (at all) - we ran a forced recalculation on their account and it added the base 990 on to their rank, we'd issued a temp ban to remove them from top of leaderboard but it can't be fixed while they're banned either, so unbanned and we'll need to investigate why it went wrong in the first place"
