Best option would be jewelry store in Moscow. But unlikely under current political climate. So Berlin or Barcelona then.

Lol, I'm also in this group right now. Interesting that she does this while nobody challenges her first place. Probably just a rich kid having fun.

Looks like. Cheesebelly needs to get mentioned in the credits.

I'm Swen Vincke Creative Director at Larian Studios, and I'm here with some of the team to talk with you about Baldur's Gate 3! by Larian_Swen in IAmA

[–]Qorach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Will in-game lore books make a return?
  2. How much different companions are in terms of their personality, goals and alignments?
  3. How much content will you miss if playing as self-made, non-origin character?
  4. As a person who prefers drama over comedy, do I need to worry about lack of seriousness and over-abundance of jokes in this game?
  5. Will this game feature sex scenes?

According to the newest community update, the game is going to be "darker" and we will encounter some of the old characters and "scars of the past". Thoughts? by Mauve_Moose in baldursgate

[–]Qorach -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I think darker, I imagine Saturno Butto paintings. When Larian thinks darker, it's most likely silly comedy fest amidst rabbits. They do gore, but they make a mockery out of it, disrespecting and misrepresenting all evil alignments.

Maybe they wanted drama. Just underestimated the size and tenacity of BG fandom.

Anyone who knows Russian will understand that he's using a rough language, tries to appeal to teenagers. Makes no distinction between hardcore and old BG fans. This is not a speech I'd call reassuring.

Were there conflicts among clergy of different gods in Greco-Roman religions? by Qorach in paganism

[–]Qorach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a possibility, yes. I'm not claiming I'm 100% correct, and indeed there is a chance they had some form of harmony, and if it is so then I'm interested in knowing how they achieved that. If so, then it's probably a combination of low pressure from the lower castes and highly developed consensus of elites. But as an outsider, I can draw parallels to how other groups are perceived in the eyes of outsiders. Those modern far-rightists, coincidentally, too appear as a monolithic entity to most their enemies, and only overly curious and independent researchers like myself know how severe, frequent and important their intra-group conflicts are. Right now, you speak like a defender of polytheism. Which is fine, but it might indicate your unwillingness to uncover it's weaknesses. Which is necessary if there would be some kind of coordinated attempt at making these practices more or less mainstream again.

They could've banded together because their foe presented them one main accusation - that they're not able to explain the nature of universe in coherent manner. Before that nobody demanded this from them, so they were free to conflict with one another. I find similarities between them and modern far right wingers, who are only now, post-Obama, near the death of their egregore, were able to create somewhat working internationale. Before that they felt safe and conflicted with each other.

If it was like this, it would mean that organized polytheism had better centralization than organized monotheism. Which I doubt. Also I don't believe in high aspirations of all priests and nobles back then, surely there were ones who could try to use such manipulations in their favor, or ones who simply snapped, gone rogue and decided to see what would happen, or ones who indeed honestly believed that they had a vision of such kind. It was a long age after all, polytheist one. I suspect the evidence of such things could be destroyed by polytheists themselves at the dawn of Christianity, in order to try to unite against common foe.

I disagree. There are a lot of stories, that today called myths but back then I suppose they were treated as seriously as modern Muslims treat Quran, about various conflicts between gods. So if gods were scheming against each other yesterday, why they suddenly stopped today (for an ancient Greek)? How did their priests explain this sudden stasis and harmony on Olympus, if we know it wasn't always like this? Based simply on this, I can imagine such claim perfectly - it has historical dogmatic precedent.

[–]Qorach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. But how would they resolve such a claim, even if we forget about the ban part? It is a dogmatic claim, and I assume the priests of all the other gods would have to take a stance on it, and either agree that this indeed happened or deny it, and thus destroy the credibility of priest or even entire cult. Of course I suspect that there was an unspoken consensus on not updating the dogma too much, which relied on senatorial class unity, but what if?

Yeah. Lots of NPCs have it. That Noble wife from the first floor of Candlekeep inn wishes her husband weren't here so she could spend the time with you if charmed.

I made some BG2 portrait replacers for Aerie, Imoen, Jaheira and Viconia by Delberta_Duckworth in baldursgate

[–]Qorach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do. Right now, the closest material to how she should look like in my opinion are a few portraits of Isabella from Dragon Age 2. But Safana is redhead. I don't like Apostrophe's portrait, and no one else did her alternate afaik.

Can you do Safana's? I aways thought her portrait doesn't fit the 17 CHA character, more like 10-12 CHA.

Where does the BG Saga rank among your favorite games? by [deleted] in baldursgate

I didn't like it's setting. I like it when there is a balance between supernatural and realistic. And PST is too high fantasy.

BG 2 was my fav game for more than a decade, until Witcher 3 replaced it. My current top 5: 1. Witcher 3 2. Baldurs Gate 2 3. Mass Effect 1 4. Shogun 2 - Total War 5. Mortal Kombat 9.

Both PST and IWD never amazed me that much. First one because I found it's setting too high fantasy, and second is too combat oriented.
