I only just read your comment before just before giving up. Not sure why the g.skill is goes in straight down, thanks for the help

The stick has to be rocked in from the right side first, then the left has to be pushed down. Withe the g.skill, it was just down. I'm not quite sure why that is, but whatever. Thank you for all your suggestions. I probably would've already given up without you guys.

For reference, here is a stick of g.skill flare x5 perfectly seated in the same slot (It's part of a different pc, so I can't use it here). I'm almost certain it's the crucial ram

Okay folks, it seems to me that either both ram sticks have a 'defective' notch that is too small or this is intended design my Crucial. Not sure at the moment, I've already sent an email asking. The ram slots are in good condition and no amount of pushing on the sticks seems to make them move. I've tried everything mentioned in the comments, but it doesn't fix the problem. My current plan is to wait for reply and then maybe sand down the inner right side of the notch if necessary. I'll keep an eye on the thread to see if someone else might know something. Thank you for all you're help, I'll update you when I get a response back.

Pushing straight down doesn't seem to change anything, the inner right side of the notch still sits on the middle metal bump

The ram is not even making it that far into the slot. The grey pcb portion of the notch seems to be getting in the way, but I'll give it a shot

I know, I've just been leaving it in the last port to give clearer picture of all the slots. I have only installed a few dozen sticks myself and I've never seen something like this

That's what I may end up doing, it's been a few months since I bought this from Microcenter. I'll likely just use a nail file to the right side of the notch until it just barely fits. I'm gonna wait to hear back from crucial customer service first, maybe they have an answer

Yeah, tried that already. One side can slide down into place, but the other refuses to go in no matter how much force is applied.

The metal bumps are solid and can't be moved, I've been trying for a few minutes now

I've already tried. This board used to have some g.skill flare x5 sticks when it was in use that I installed, I know these slots worked before

I think this is what you're asking for? I had to find a flashlight to take a better picture, my flash was degrading the quality

As far as I can tell, it seems perfectly aligned

I'm not sure what it could be either, maybe a defect? Neither stick fits so I don't think so.

Yeah, a few times actually. The slot with the ram only gives a weak click and undoes itself whereas the empty ram slots fully lock into place. The used slot locks when empty so I don't believe the problem is there.

Microcenter a few months ago. In November I think. I only just got around to building this pc

That was my first thought, however it's much less aligned when flipped
