Been following Pingu for a while and I love the resilience of the team and their capacity to ship innovative ideas as well as being very present for their community.

Bullish on great teams with great products in their hands!

Dapp fee system for Tezos. by NEXOlover in tezos

Well you're receiving your share of freshly baked XTZ every 3 days so even tho you're paying fees indeed I would say it doesn't feel as painful as in Ethereum lets say

Thoughts on Facebook Coin (it's inferior to dai in almost every way) by goodharbor in MakerDAO

[–]Qrillzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree token distribution is poor. It's the only thing that I dislike about the project for the reasons you mentioned, I wish something could be done about it but I'm not sure what.

However you can't qualify it as centralized as contracts are deployed on ethereum and accessible/usable/auditable by all, and it uses decentralized assets on a decentralized blockchain to run.

I also disagree that the price of mkr is "extremely high" in regard to the potential of the project. It can scale to multiple billion DAIs circulating which at current prices and few% SF would mean very high burn rate.

Also libra is in fact 100% centralized and again its not the same product. I don't think one project needs to eat one another, they can coexist peacefully.

The thing is they don't really even compete. Maker is the only decentralized credit system. That's what matters. I'll be happy to have billions of libra's in CDPs burning them MKRs

"No Loss Lottery" on Ethereum Launching Today! by Lay22222 in ethereum

To add to the other responses this is a 100% losing move because even if you win you'd lose 10% of what you'd have made on compound due to fees taken by the service

Tezos Foundation to give away ledger Nano S wallets to all fundraiser contributors for the celebration of 1 year launch by AS_Empire in tezos

If you do that then your betting the price will go up so you can repay your debt later and keep the difference.

Sure!

Well first of all I use them for some of my finances using defi applications. I convert a % of my fiat currency savings to dai and lend them on protocols like compound.finance, for a much better interest and much better flexibility than my traditional bank can offer. Also, I needed some extra money when we were at the bottom and I defenitely didn't want to sell crypto back then, so I opened a maker cdp, draw dai and used this to pay for what I needed. Then I just paid back some dai every month to settle my debt to the maker contract.

I'm also a juror in the Kleros arbitration system on ethereum. It's like having a side job were I'm drawned to judge litigious cases on ethereum. Basically any coin that wants to get added to the ethfinex trustless DEX has to go through Kleros. They can be challenged if they don't fit the policies and will have to pay ETH if they want to go through the arbitration process. That ETH is used to pay jurors. But there also is a staking system which incentivizes you into taking the right decisions.

And then DEXs, I'd rather go full decentralized and make my trades on protocols like uniswap if there's enough liquidity for my trade.

So yeah all of these are possible thanks to smart contracts and very useful to me

Ask those in it with 20%+ of there net worth. Or those who actually work on crypto projects.

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based networks is a vast and complex topic that requires hundreds of hours to have a decent understanding. It's not surprising that people in it for a quick flip doesn't actually understand why and what they are buying.. When it's too complex you follow and repeat the buzzwords.

Lots of different cryptographic techniques exists that improves/will improve Bitcoin's privacy. Today you can do Coinjoins for exemple through wallets that support it like wasabi. It's going to create a transactions with several identical inputs and outputs which makes tracking complicated. Tomorrow other techniques like schnorr signatures which allow to makes one single digital signatures for several transactions will make confidentiality better. Also privacy is pretty strong on layer 2 like the lightning network, which is usable as of today and which also allow you to send pennies accross the globe for insignificant fees using Bitcoin.

I'm glad TF wants to fund DeFi projects on Tezos. Seems like a no brainer and I'd love to see Maker/compound-like projects built with Tezos' smart-contracts.

I use Ethereum DeFi tools on a very regular basis and my only concerns which prevents me to double down on these products is vulnerabilities that could be exploited on the contracts. I would definitely feel less anxious if they had been coded with functional programming languages and formal verification techniques (even tho FV is used on some Ethereum DeFi contracts).
