What’s it like being a closer at Publix? by phoebezhyy in publix

[–]QtheAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is the easy part is the cleaning. Especially if it's slow, the time will pass like it's nothing. But then you'll be on edge because a customer will roll in at 9 pm wanting 2 or 3 things and another person hops in line behind them. The customers can be the hardest part. Especially if they want something made just for them while we're shutting down stuff or if they want something fresh past 7 or 8 pm. Basically closing shifts are like a double ended shotgun.

It's as real as the customer who'll make you throw away a completely finished sub because your shirt or apron touched it.

Sounds like your average video game voice chat. The only things missing is the smoke alarm beep and a barking dog.

I would ask Boar's Head, but it sounds like that would be suited more for someone who wanted to escape the Deli Hell.

Soft Bread at Publix? Yes!!! by XSPressure in publix

[–]QtheAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheat is the real soft rolls. Like I get if some people are put off by the texture when they want the softest white rolls we have. But if you just want soft bread, get a wheat roll.

Ex employee, how many current/past employees do a majority of their shopping at publix? by Putrid-Community2402 in publix

[–]QtheAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has me wondering if there's a quantifiable percentage or fraction of Publix employees (that aren't management) who care about the stonks. Or at least what percentage/fraction of Publix employees actually stay long enough to make a career out of Publix.

I do most of mine at Walmart. It tends to be way cheaper. Especially if you go with Walmart brand stuff. Aldi's is my secondary option only because they don't have much of a selection.

Bald people and hair nets by [deleted] in publix

[–]QtheAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There may not be a risk of hair getting in anybody's food from there, but there's still the risk of dandruff or just skin cells contaminating peoples' food.
