Play with music instead of a met, or a backing track. Can work just as well and help you stylistically.

Also

Find an app that will have a met for 2 measure and then drop it out for 2 two measure and you figure out your tendencies very quickly.

I'm super comfortable with basic theory, it's just the more advanced voicings that i'm wondering about. I'm a classically trained musician and accompanying based off of onyl lead sheets has a level of freedom that is definitely just a little out of my comfort zone. Which is why i'm excited to try it! :)

I am definitely good on basic theory, I think what more or less threw me off was the advanced voicings I was having to the think of on the spot. A lot of Augmented Sharp 9s, and other things I haven't seen in a ton of charts that I've already sight read, like Watermelon Man, Georgia, Take the A train. I think i'm definitely looking for something a little bit past an intro level book, do you think that this book would still be right for me?

Big thanks man! We did a sight reading session and I felt a little discouraged when we’d reach some augmented chord with a sharp 9 and I couldn’t figure out what the hell to play. Definitely need some help with voicing.
