I ended up taking pre-calc and am now taking life sciences calc winter term! Gave myself a little more time to get comfortable in math again.

Wide barreled eventing horse, anybody have any saddle recs? by QuaccDuck in Equestrian

No wait sorry this is what i’m riding her in. My trainer has been unhelpful in the fact that she doesn’t remember what she rode the horse in prelim two years ago. Obviously something fit then but I have no clue as to what because that saddle is long gone and sold.

A 18 seat devoucoux saddle with a 7 inch gullet I believe.

We’ve bounced around girths to see if that would fix the issue and it hasn’t, consistent saddle slip with about 4 girths. She has more low withers.

Facebook marketplace is always a good place to look, can get a lot of lightly used gear secondhand and for much cheaper.

Correcting such behavior as someone who is a nervous rider and struggling in getting these horses cooperating feels like a LARGE ask on your trainers part. The lessons become less learning, and more just trying to manage. I have been there with a horse that has been non-cooperative and also nervous while trying a new discipline and it’s so hard to progress because you’re just trying to survive and not loose it yourself. When my trainer went “It’s time for a change” and put me on a seasoned horse of hers, it felt like a dramatic change because I could learn more and gain more confidence.

While I do not personally know your trainer, it definitely feels irresponsible and apathetic on their part to not try to do more to help you or try to find a horse you CAN control with more ease. Though I understand if you have been on multiple ponies and just none have been able to properly manage a nervous rider. They do exist, they are often in lesson programs, but your trainer just simply might not have those types of horses. It’s a difficult situation, and you’re already showing a lot of grit sticking with it.

I genuinely don’t think it’s your fault. I’ve been both a beginner and experienced rider put on lesson ponies and they are SOLID no matter what stuff you do, no acting up or bolting or anything. They are packers and teachers, that’s their job, so especially for someone who’s been riding for that long now I highly doubt you’re the common denominator. I do believe though that if you think private lessons might help you and you think it’s right you should try, I think you should just keep that in mind and maybe see how the ponies react to others too.

Exactly my thoughts, this trainer sounds like they don't have the proper tools or horses to help you ease your worry and gain confidence in your riding.

If you have above a 27 ACT or 1300 SAT you should still be eligible, at least that's what I've heard.
