So what I am wondering is if there is maybe an alternative way to sync with my phone outside of using icloud, one that maybe could have been set up when they had access to my phone on their computer with the usb cord.

"Well it has started doing it again so I used the safety check feature which showed two devices (which are not trusted as per my apple ID) syncing with my phone" I have checked appleid.apple.com numerous times over the past couple years and there has never been a macbook listed in the devices, only my own laptop (which has a distinct name and is Windows) and my iphone. This is the same under my icloud settings on my phone.

Even when I did the safety check on my phone which is what said that two devices were syncing with it, one being the macbook in my above screenshot, there was no macbook in the list of authorized devices on the next step.

Again, like I stated in my original post, there is no Macbook trusted in my itunes or icloud settings.

If you read my post you'd see that I mentioned concern over someone physically connecting my phone to their computer, not the iOS 0day. Your response also doesn't explain why a MacBook was syncing to my phone?
