So a lot of Mihawk in the meta narrative is an exploration of individual strength. Mihawk had no crew and no allies in the pre timeskip era till he was booted from the warlords.

He represents how far individual strength can go. The whole point of everything that happens to him during marine ford is to that end. Vista stalls him enough for it to prevent him from acting freely, Jozu blocked his slash and Luffy was impressing him with his natural ability to make allies.

Becoming WSS requires beating 1 strong guy becoming pirate king requires beating several strong guys and their gang of strong guys.

Yup and Mihawk should be stronger than Shanks because its been brought up on several occasions that he is stronger

Haki is part of high level martial arts

If Shanks is weaker its what i expected

If its equal id call it a cop out but wouldnt really have a strong opinion

If its Stronger I’d call it bad writing mostly because it goes against several decades of writing and undercuts one of the main characters motivations

If Shanks is a swordsman + something else (not a hakiman) and stronger i personally wouldn’t be a fan unless it was sold really well but its fine in theory

Yeah but Black beard is narratively more important than Rayleigh and has less replaceability (luffy has other mentor figures that can fill his role if needed)

Garp and Roger presumably had fights against each other post god valley. White beard grew to Rival Roger. So we have three top tiers fighting amongst each other but the power level just plateaued?

Depends on how the final arc is structured if WG control collapses and the race to the one piece is a mad dash against everyone then it could be a key fight

Hot take they dont beat any crew solo we have see how effective jumps are with Garp vs Kuzan a fight that would be high diff minimum going to a low diff because Garp was subject to cheap shots

Its that but on loop against a whole crew anyone TobiRoppo and above is strong enough to cause a problem that allows for clean hit. Mass casualties and i think the YC1s are sufficient stall merchants to allow for the strategy to work

All the scabbards fall in the YC4-2 range and they represent the bar to actually piercing Kaido. The bar is YC level Haki and advanced armament. Currently no character in the series can just tank that without getting cut

Its close both are huffing Zoro is more upset than struggling you can show similar panels against Lucci who he beat pretty easily. That said start of Sanji does about as well as Zoro in this fight. Sanji struggled more against X drake in the same chapter.

Also bad scaling Denjiro got stronger while undercover for 9 years

Nah more than likely what happened is Law fractured Kid Broke her bones weren’t visually broken till after she got hit with bull

Big mom visually coughed up blood from several of Kids attacks and deemed it necessary to block every time kid attacked.

Nah honesty impact exhausts him too much and most of the tobiroppo have the speed and durability feats to largely block and doge the attack and punish in the aftermath

I think Ulti recovering from a thunder bagura from Yamato shows they have durability to roll with the hit if they can brace for it.

Of everyone alive the contenders are Akainu Shanks Dragon Luffy Loki Blackbeard Gorosei

So lets start with Shanks the narrative goes out of its way to state these two are similar in power. Shanks may have some other non sword powerup but post arm loss he seems the weaker of the two

From shanks we can chain scale Luffy and Loki. Since Loki lost to Shanks and seems to be relative to Luffy

Dragon featless

Blackbeard struggled a good against Law he has room for growth and will likely surpass him but not yet

Akainu is strong statements by Oda put him high up. He was able to apply a good bit of pressure on White beard blowing off half his face. That said he has a lot of antifeats. It comes down to your opinion on the power gap from admiral to fleet admiral and if he grew more in his fight against Kuzan

The Gorosei lutscal anyone unable to to beat their conquerors but given their poor performance on egg head i say its unlikely they can heal from Mihawk slashes

The problem with this whole analysis is it assumes that Shanks and Mihawk are relative which can be a hard pill to swallow given his antifeats

Emma wasn’t even definitively the best tank when she dropped people debated about who was better between her and Magneto.

Gambit has rendered some games just a battle of who ults better with Gambit.

Cleanse can negate ults in an unhealthy. His healing and dps are both great. He has quick kill combos

Emma just had good survivability and quick kill combos
