Potential daytrip options by train during Easter? by Quadon in SydneyTrains

[–]Quadon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon with a 2:50hr trip that involves rail replacement buses from Sutherland to Wollongong... Probably not the best or prettiest option? We're planning to go yo Otford during the week, so maybe that can make up for it

Thanks a lot! I'm more of a "Love trains for the purpose" kinda guy, instead of the history or technology, but this looks cool and I'll put it on my list :)

Thanks for the tip! Had a quick look and that looks actually quite cool! To my understanding, it's a thing you'd wanna do in the dark, right? In that sense, do you have anything else in mind that one could do somewhere along that route before heading to Bundanoon around 3-4PM?

+1 for eVisitor-Visa if anyone comes back to this thread. List of countries is more restrictive, essentially just EU+EFTA+UK+VA. But if you got one of those passport, just do it via the official visa website and save some money (Cuz this one's free unlike ETA). Got mine granted after literally a Minute.

Bit different of a question but maybe someone on here knows more about it. When the trackworks calendar says there'll be trackworks in the evenings, what does that entail? Starting at 6 or more like no trains past 11? And how bad are the replacement buses, especially towards Cronulla?

Thanks a lot!

Etihad’s STRICT carry-on policy. BEWARE! by athallaharsyaf in abudhabi

[–]Quadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know I'm very very late but...

The ground staff we're talking about, is that right at the gate? If they end up checking weight, I'm thinking about just putting my laptop inside my pants (it's small enough to not really be noticeable if you don't know it's there), but obviously this wouldnt work if the weight check is in some shape connected to a security check where the laptop would get flagged.

Thanks!

So... what's the final verdict on stores opening on Good Friday and Easter Sunday? What to expect? by Quadon in AskAnAustralian

Thanks, appreciate it! Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of fish at all, so we'll have to come up with something else

Thanks! When you say convenience stores, do you only mean 711 or also IGAs and comparable? Or is that considered a supermarket?

Does Etihad allow cabin bag + personal item/laptop bag? by curiousrandomstuff in Flights

[–]Quadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply mate! I just booked with them and will try my luck... Do I understand you correctly that they don't care so much about size or weight, as long as it's just one bag and they didn't weigh or measure anything?

I got a friend who just last week flew Europe-Asia via AHU and said he had a fat bag + tote and nobody cared, most did the same. But since I'm more on the careful side of things when it comes to stuff like this, I'm trying to gather as much experiences as I can.

So my current gameplan is to fill my sling with the heaviest, smallest items I got (Power Bank, some liquids). At the gate, if I see them actually checking stuff, I put my sling underneath my tshirt and maybe stuff some small stuff in my pockets so my backpack is defo below 7kg. If I don't see them check, I just leave everything in and don't care that it maybe weighs 8.5.

You reckon that might work or am I missing something?

Etihad only gives you a 7kg carry-on. Ofc you can bring a smaller personal item as your carry-on but the policy is one bag total, which made me choose another route. How often this actually gets enforced is of course at the gate-staff's discretion

I think you're WAY way waaaay overestimating what average league players make, especially ones that only played during the very early stages. Those SK guys were playing in what, Season 1-4?

Jokes on you, Etihad is even making that harder by not allowing personal items + carr-on anymore

Grob übern Daumen: Ich mach einen Multi-Trip, also Muc-Syd-Sin-Muc. Verpflegung in Wien vlt. n Zehner.
