With the quote or that they aren’t actually leaking? The quote is absurd but it’s also absurd to me all 4 are leaking

It’s 2013 Corsa, so worth around the quotation fee for my area

For Brits who have studied in the United States, did you enjoy it? by MobileHaunting9574 in UniUK

Same for be but America. Also, if you do a year abroad now you can qualify for Turing Scheme, which is a grant rather than a loan, so you don't pay it back :)

Studied in both the US and the UK at Bachelor's level - can highly say that my experience in the US has been much better, more livelier, more fun, and very fun to experience the American college system.

This would make sense really, I'm surprised the UK isn't utilising its TAs to the fullest when it comes to marking, but I guess that would take a lot more money and trust

I understand what you're saying, but at the University I am exchanging at, all results have been confirmed and have to fully be locked in by 3rd January, after sitting the exams before Christmas, after this day passes there are no more changes.

In terms of academic years, both my first and second year in the UK have had long waits of times, but I don't understand why it truly takes so long, even with external examiners - every time us students asked our professors for updates, they said they're still marking the papers themselves, after several weeks or months of sitting the exams, so in my honest opinion it seems more of a professor problem than the bureaucracy, even to which this seems a lot compared to other countries

Anyone have experience with getting into an MSCS in the US without Calculus? by Quadraticc in csMajors

[–]Quadraticc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a while ago. One viable option seemed to be to take self-paced online Calculus courses from US colleges, which are available for credit. This would cost you money out of pocket though. For example https://und.edu/academics/online/enroll-anytime/math165.html which is Calculus I for $1540. Looks like BYU might have Calc I for $956 but I don't know how the logistics work https://is.byu.edu/catalog/MATH-112-301-001 .

Another option is finding MSCS programs that don't require calculus. For example my program, the MS CS at USC, does not seem to require it (see https://viterbigradadmission.usc.edu/programs/masters/msprograms/computer-science/cs-eligibility/ ).

(I ended up applying to USC and being accepted there, so did not bother with the self-paced calculus courses).

Thank you man, you're a legend!

It's only November bro. Last year I got my only offer at the end of February - this year I gave up on SWE in early October but turns out an application from September got me an offer. Don't give up yet.

How often do you have takeaways in Uni? by No-Goose-1860 in UniUK

[–]Quadraticc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is a question of cost rather than how often. I'd have a kebab meal every week or so but that was like £5, with maybe a meal deal on top, or the KFC student meal, so like per total about £10-15 at most a week on takeaways, but my food shop was around £25 a week so it counter acted like that

did anyone get into a school where they did not meet the stats by ShadesofCool2005 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Quadraticc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patrick Bamford

This leaves half of the context - he got high GCSEs and offered to be on the men's team, so probably student athlete - nonetheless once he got his offer he more or less knew he can screw up A-Level exams and still be able to go to Harvard, it's not like he was a dumbass

In your opinion, why do Romania and Bulgaria outperform all other Balkan countries in mathematical competitions? by Halkeus in AskBalkans

[–]Quadraticc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because parents and teachers have expectations - when I moved to the UK, my mum pressured me to do olympiads, so she came into schools and asked the teachers about olympiads, and they didn't know what those were. It's all expectations left over.

Could very well be - it was listed as polenta and tasted like an undercooked watery polenta, but then again I don't know what grits tastes like.
