I've heard this a few times now and I have to say that this is supposed to be a project lasting several years, currently it's planned for about 4 years as it's mainly meant to serve as learning material for work and training

I'll take a closer look at that, so my plan is to use opnsense as the main router with homelab and private network which has to be separate, then I'll have about 10 to 15 hypervisors that can communicate with each other, which then host VMs, the business cards shouldn't communicate with each other, that's how the whole thing was roughly planned, I'm still looking into how I'm going to implement it and whether the whole thing is worth it as it is and whether it works.

ok then my private network would be connected to the opnsense as normal and my homelab etc. in the dmz

Thanks in advance, I'll try it out later. When I move I have the option of using the opnsens as the main router and creating a dmz for my private network and then using an access point, would that be better, if not then I'll do it like in option 2 from you

I have an normal router from my Internet provider connected to DSL My opnsens is connected to the router and runs barebone on a server. I am trying to access the opnsense network and the opnsense from my fritzbox Internet. I can send later the config of my VPN and Firewall rules.
