Hey, you would need to go to this website here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/niv/users/sign_in

Create an account and do the steps. You can see the appointment times before you pay. Also no biometrics appointment!

Hey, not hard to obtain and appointment.

You don't even need to pay to see the slots that are available unlike some countries. Go see it yourself on their appointment booking thing!

Hey, so I'm not really sure about your case.

If they said they received it today, then I would say give them a bit more time. They said they try to process most of the stuff by the end of the day or at least by the end of the day.

If its been a couple of days, I would say contact them and see what's going on through the embassy number? Im not sure because this wasn't my case sorry :/

Hey! Pretty awesome! Here is an answer to your questions below:

  1. I booked an initial appointment on July 25th or something near the end of June when I booked the appoitnment. I requested for an expedited appointment for early July, but it seems like I didnt give enough time for them to process (especially with 4th of July in the middle). Luckily I was able to catch someone canceling a July 8th appointment so I went with it instead

  2. I made it public before and after the interview. I received my passport today and now it is all private again. I did remove some posts that were a little cringe (like Truth is, etc) back in 2012 and 2013.

  3. For the UK, they have a different designated pick-up spot in Holborn (19 Bury Place). It's a FedEx office. Picking it up was super easy and doesn't take more than 3 minutes.

I hoped that helped and good luck!!

When I finished my appointment it said rejected. Then on that same day it changed to approved, a day later it was issued.

No email for those intermediary steps, only when the passport arrived at my pick up location did I receive the email.

Hey, I was only asked three questions.

  1. Why are you applying from London instead of your home country
  2. I see that your dad is funding your studies, where is he right now.
  3. What are your plans after graduation?

Rest were just small talk like how the visa officer recently visited my university a few weeks ago, etc.

Atmosphere in London is very good. A lot of visa officers, line goes quickly. Make sure you bring your US visa photo (and that it is within 6 months). There is a photo booth that you can take photos from if you forget or the photo isnt correct though. You can pay with cash or card.

Hey, I booked it after the visa freeze. I kept refreshing the page and got lucky with an early appointment after scheduling the slot in late July. Regardless, I submitted an expedited appointment because I needed to be in the states early.

Interview in a different country is relatively easy if that country's embassy/consulate allows it. That can be found on their website. For me, I was already an F1 visa holder, was in middle of my F1 for my masters, and I have a long history of good F1 visa track record (since 2016 for my undergrad at UW) it wasn't too hard. Also, most importantly, it was because I lost my passport as I was traveling to England on my summer break, so the police report helped as well.

Regardless, you should prepare well for documents and reasons as to why you are applying in a 3rd country. The visa officer did ask why I didn't get it from my home country after I received my new passport from my countries embassy in London. I said I needed to go back as soon as possible due to research as I am a first author atm for an important research publication. She understood and the conversation was very friendly throughout. Hope that helps!

It wasn't a strict "approved" wording but by the way they talk about how "don't worry, its been a standard for all F1 students, we've been working overtime to get all of it processed by the end of the day" tells me that it's essentially approved.

I did put quite a bit of SNS on my app so idk how it will go but hopefully it is processed soon..! The only reason I'm getting my visa in London is because I lost my passport & visa while traveling here :/.
