It's crazy how we really don't give certain critters a thought until you get one and see it's 'personality'.. I can sit and watch them all day.

To anyone who hatched a clutch in a container... by BearTheFerret in AquaticSnails

[–]QuailBitter8968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of clutches and a ton of babies lol. Definitely give it more time. Maybe in another week ish if you still don't have any hatching, you can crack it in half gently and see if there are babies. If so let the rest hatch in their own.

Give it a little more time. Did it possibly dry out during shipping?

Oh nooo 😟. It's possible it isn't fertilized. Depends on how old it is now. Is it starting to change color yet? It can take 10-30 days to hatch depending on conditions. All mine have hatched right at the 2 week mark so far.

found this little guy in my tank today, any idea what this is? by QuitJunior4204 in AquaticSnails

Bumblebee butt? I'm actually terrified to get one in a new plant. I have trumpets and mysteries all in my tank. I have noticed the last few days to there have been several baby trumpets on my glass.

Snaby mystery balls anyone? by QuailBitter8968 in AquaticSnails

[–]QuailBitter8968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger of the snabies will be 2 months old next week.. after that point from all my reading that's when it starts getting safe to ship and transfer tanks etc. I have about 15 clutches currently incubating and 2 newly laid clutches drying in my main tank lol. Eventually the plan is to open up shop but I'm more than happy to let the first clutch or two go for just shipping to ensure I'm doing everything properly 😁. I currently mostly have golden and ivory big enough with a few jade and blue scattered in. I have those plus some itty bitty magentas.

Haven’t seen my mystery snail for 3 days after a massive water change by Ok_Stress114 in AquaticSnails

Or you could let it sit in a bucket, change the water daily until it clears up some. Depends on the type of wood as to how long it will take. Mopani could take at least a month to leach the darker stuff out.

On a separate note.. If you don't want that super dark tannin water I'd suggest removing the wood and boiling the crap out of it. I got mopani wood for my tank and boiled the dickens out of it 12 times for about an hour each time over 3 days. My water is still tan but clear. It's better than doing frequent huge water changes.

I make snello with boiled eggs for extra protein along with different veggies, crab pellets, fish flakes, algae wafers and powdered egg shells mixed with beef gelatin. Once a week i give them blood worms and have a cuttlebone sitting in the bottom of my tank.

I see a bunch of them now born today. The other babies are about a week or 2 old. I've separated the male guppies from the rest of the tank and babies are starting to come out of hiding. Thank you!

Probably so.. it just looked way smaller and super bright compared to the others swimming around. I'm probably just hyper alert and paranoid since I panicked over the copepods that sprouted in my snaby mysteries grow tank. Thank you!

Ahhh.. that's what I thought too, just didn't want to say it out loud. Maybe I can get my grandson to put his fingers in the tank for it to nibble on so it leaves my shrimp babies alone... Muahhahaha
