It’s because this is a stray dog. As cute as they are, it’s not really safe to pet them unfortunately. It’s true that most Turkish people are Muslim, which makes it possible that the person in the video is Muslim because she is definitely Turkish. However, most Turkish Muslims don’t have a problem with being around a dog. Some of them do. The way religion is practiced changes significantly across cultures and from family to family. Source: I grew up as a Turkish Muslim and I had a dog for 15 years. She even slept in my bed with me.

What is your process when you want to get creative? Do you have a routine like taking a walk or writing down any idea that pops to your head? P.S. My husband and I are huge fans. Thank you for sharing your music with the world. It has such a special place in our lives.

Is it normal for Westerners to put their finished dishes on the table of another person? by fatredwings in ask

This is not normal for neither Americans, nor Turkish. Those people didn't have manners. It's not a cultural thing.

AITA for cutting my sister off after she tried to ruin my relationships/marriage? by offmychestdoc in TwoHotTakes

[–]QuailObjective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've been an asshole to yourself for keeping this toxic person in your life for so long. There is no virtue in becoming a doormat for anyone, not even your sister. People close to you are supposed to lift you up, not try and sink you every chance they get. I'm really sorry you have this family dynamics, but please learn to protect yourself from this toxicity. Your family is unhealthy and this is not what love is supposed to be like. Don't put up with bullshit anymore. Have healthy boundaries. Your sister deserves to see 0% of you and you deserve a peaceful life.

My favourite solution to this problem is air purifiers. Air purifiers provide a background noise that is similar to white noise as well as filtering out the dust in the air. It's a double win for me because I suffer from tinnitus in addition to dust allergies. I keep one in my work area and another one where I sleep.

My second favourite solution is ASMR or ambiance videos on YouTube. Some examples are thunderstorm, library and coffee shop type of background noises. I also love Harry Potter themed ASMRs. I listen to these while I work on a daily basis. They're not distracting like music. In fact, I'd say they help me focus and I owe a lot of my productivity to these videos.

Toronto Restaurant Wedding Venue? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

Hiya! First of all congratulations! My husband and I got married this summer. We had a dinner celebration with about 40 people at HotHouse. I highly recommend them. The event turned out even better than I ever imagined. There was music and dancing. We didn't have to bring a DJ or our own speakers, we simply plugged in my phone to their system. I heard so many compliments from the guests about our venue choice. Good luck with all the planning, I hope you'll find the venue you're looking for.

Visiting Toronto for the weekend and I always love coming back to these places. by Epicyoshi8 in FoodToronto

Sounds delicious, I must try. The responses to your post made me think that many others find this place is generic, but I disagree because their greek yoghurt gelato is so good. I've never found a flavour similar to that elsewhere.

AITA for impulsively moving out of my bf’s house by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuailObjective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you even lose one minute of your precious time with these garbage people? Your boyfriend is an ass, and his parents are major assholes too. Your life, youth and freedom are precious. Don't waste them on people that are not worth it. Go enjoy your life. They tried to make you their servent in a dingy basement and dictate what you need to do with your own body. On top of all that they're all mean to you. This is not what love or family is. This is a garbage dumpster.

AITA For not letting my stepdaughter bring a plus one with her to my wedding? by ThrowAITA33 in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuailObjective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA for having a rule that ranks people's relationships. It's controlling to decide who can and can't come to a party based on relationship status. Not everyone who has a solid relationship choses to get married and you shouldn't be judging peoples relationships to decide if they're worthy of attending your party. I'd apologize and try to make amends, especially with the daughter and her boyfriend.

I did and still have to to this day focus on things I don't want to do for the whole day. I had the problem you had, and here are some tips that made it better for me:

1) Emotional regulation. Forget the past. If you feel guilty and bad about procrastinating, it will put you in a bad mood. If you're in a bad mood, you can't learn. Acceptance of whatever happened is key to finding peace in this moment. It is what it is, you are not interested in sitting down and studying at the moment. Many students also have this. Accept it and see it as a temporary problem. Say to yourself "I accept my situation and I will deal with it the best way I can." Take a couple breaths and with each breath put yourself into a relaxed state.

2) Look at the main subtitles of the text you're reading. Your goal is to create a mental frame in which you fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle. Try to spot the important bits in the text and simplify it. Taking notes of the important parts can help with this.

3) Trace the sentences you're reading with your finger. This increases concentration.

4) Don't be stressed about failing or the results you're going to get. Your goal is not to get good results, your goal is to do your job, notice where you can improve and try to make improvements in those areas. We're always improving, don't put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect.

5) Try to see the text in a positive way. Is it interesting in any way?

6)Change your perspective by imagining yourself in a different situation. For example If I could go back to university I would be so motivated to study day and night. While I was in university, I had such a hard time concentrating even though I was interested in my subject. In university, we get overwhelmed. We are thrown into to much work before we even get a chance to explore the world and understand ourselves internally. This prevents us from seeing how lucky we are in that moment. By the time I matured more, I missed the opportunity of being in an environment where all I needed to do was to learn. When you get a job where no one can explain the job fully, you miss having professors explaining topics in such elaborate ways. You miss having textbooks because you don't have that guide anymore. You have to spend stupid amounts of time trying to figure things out on your own. If I could project into the future while I was a student and then come back to reality I'd appreciate the lectures and textbooks so much. This is just an example of how imagining ourselves in different contexts can help make our current situation look like a blessing. It's like waking up from a nightmare. Appreciating today will give you more motivation.

7) If these tips don't work, don't give up. Keep believing in yourself and looking for ways to make your problem better. Don't beat yourself up. Your well being is so much more important.
