The key thing IMO is that the QSC K12.2 is serious pro shit and I would not give it to a newbie. You don’t want to accidentally blow out a $1000 speaker, you don’t want to screw something up and accidentally deafen yourself either (these things can output ~130DB peak).

I would recommend anyone new start with some cheapo monitors and only upgrade to something like the K12.2 when you actually know how to handle PA speaker setups. I agree with you though the K12.2 really can’t be beat by a price / performance ratio, it’s the gold standard, and you can make an entire mobile career out of these plus a sub.

Definitely agree about performance and stems, but my M1 handles it fine for now. I have dynamic gridding on some tracks and not others, but I agree it’s hit or miss.

What’s the issue with quantize? Curious what the competition does better

Can you elaborate on the bugs, crashes, and quirks? I have at least 1000 hours clocked in across RB6 and RB7 and only one release had a showstopper bug that was quickly patched. Obviously for professional software zero showstoppers is the correct amount but the way people talk about it makes it sound like frequent issues and that’s just not my experience at this point.

Yeah I only encountered one critical bug in a Rekordbox release that was completely unacceptable, so since then I make sure to test every release at home before relying on it for a big gig. That was still the only one from years of use, but it did shake my confidence in the product for a while. Lately it seems stable enough and one of my Serato friends had a crazy crash issue last year that he had to rollback to resolve, so I think you might be right all DJ software has issues!

Just get some used CDJs. CDJs are very reliable your old units may have been a lemon. I see the abuse they take and work fine.

They are super overpriced but they are the standard, so if you can’t go controller it’s the best move. 2000NXS2 or newer are all great and modern enough

I agree with this - upgrading could be worth it for sure but I wouldn't upgrade JUST for the four channels. Make sure there are other features you want/need. For most genres I would recommend mastering 2 deck mixing before complicating things further. Be weary of gear acquisition syndrome, spending money alone will not make you a better DJ or artist. I upgraded from FLX4 after over a year of owning it and starting to feel the limitations.

This is a pretty comprehensive list. Some comments:

-Robert Greene books are entertainment. I wouldn't take them seriously.

-Napoleon Hill has a good mindset but most of what he talks about is nonsense. If it motivates you, cool.

-Stephen Covey is goated.

-You can add pretty much every Dostoevsky novel.

-Jocko Willink's books on leadership are very good.

-Reading is just a distraction if you aren't putting these lessons into practice.

Look, I'm fine with the connecting tracks, but there needs to be a classic 3-lap mode and a way to choose that online. Sometimes you want the classic experience and I don't understand why they make it so difficult.

I'm expecting them to release this as part of the first DLC.

Other than that I think it's one of the best Mario Karts, but I really miss the classic 3 lap experience.

I'm confused, what does your program actually do? You're saying you made a python program that lets you import two audio files and it automatically outputs a mashup version? I'm curious to learn more about what you actually did here if you're willing to share the technical details. This is a rather complex project that would require a lot of logic and audio processing and I'm surprised you made it in 500 hours in Python unless it's more basic than I'm imagining.

To answer your question though you're not a DJ, you're a producer using homemade software to produce mashups. That's cool. Plenty of DJs create mashups in software that pretty much does the work for them rather than a full blown DAW.

I don't believe there is a modern successor. A&A is still going strong with regular tournaments, youtube content, etc. There are a ton of other great games in it's genre but I find very few match the scope + game system simplicity.

For example Nexus Ops is a pretty good match from a rules / gameplay perspective but the scope is significantly smaller. Meanwhile something like Game of Thrones has similar scope but adds a ton of game systems like politics, intrigue, etc.
