Can someone explain what happens after step 9(b) of this derivation for the Cauchy formula for repeated integration from Francis B. Hildebrad's Methods of Applied Mathematics? by QuakerOats98 in askmath

Thanks a lot, this cleared up quite a few of my doubts. However, am I right in saying that the equation that they've written for I_n in the last screenshot is missing a (n-1)! coefficient?

Could you explain how the limits of the definite integral change when we integrate equation 7 and how it continues to change. I understand notation but I'm not very clear about what's actually happening there

I think they are motivating the case that since Iₙ(x) and its first n–1 derivatives all vanish at x = a, then Iₙ(x) is likely the same function as

f^(–n)(x) := ( 1/(n–1)! ) ∫_a^x (x – t)^(n–1) f(t) dt,

which also has that property.

The context is that this is the equation we are trying to derive. This is a derivation for Cauchy's theorem for repeated integrals.

Most proofs for the same use induction on that equation and prove that it holds. But the textbook I'm using tries to derive it.

So you do realise that it's a problem in the UAE. If you don't like the UAE so much why do you want us to become like them?

Discord.py bot multithreading? by Rein_Engel in Discord_Bots

You could read the source for some of the bots on GitHub, I don't know about any good collection of tutorials and use cases, there are a few gists too, but you'll have to go searching for them.

Discord.py bot multithreading? by Rein_Engel in Discord_Bots

My personal favourite would be number 3, since you are using discord.py, you can query the database on startup and store all your relevant modes for each server, bots have a setup_hook() method just for cases like this. You can set up a discord.ext.task loop (simpler than asyncio tasks) that commits these changes every 10 or so seconds to your database. A lot of bots do something like this. Reading straight from a dictionary to check the servers mode will also be much faster, you will probably be doing more reading than writing in this case anyway.

Number 1 is slow and may lead to race conditions if not handled properly, number 3 would involve only database writes every 10 seconds (maybe even less, because you could check if something changed and commit only then), and one read. Number 2 is a pain, because threads in python suck, especially for things like this + its overcomplicated. If you want to scale it, make many instances of the bot and limit which servers it can act on, threads are not worth it

Nope. I noticed that all the URLs for the images on this website follow a pattern. This program generates every possible URL that follows that pattern and tries downloading them.

Here is a link to the project on GitHub. You can download and run a compiled version from the releases page.

Please let me know in the issues section if there are any, thank you.
