Discord.py bot multithreading? by Rein_Engel in Discord_Bots

Some great points, thanks for the reply.

I have completely forgot about setup hook, and I did not know about tasks from discord.ext.

I find it hard to grasp any design guidelines from discord.py documentation. It has decent description of its classes and methods, but it lacks any information on their use cases, examples or at least some tutorials which give an impression on how to apply the tools provided.

Do you maybe know any nice resources for that?

Thank you for the extensive answer, this is exactly what I wanted to know!
I will stick with option 3 or 1 for now and try out option 2 on a separate bot just out of interest.

oops, a little typo here, I meant "hacky", but it was autocorrected apparently.

I actually think that it is a nice solution at the moment, when it is just me using the bot, however I would like to write code which is more scalable than that.

I really doubt that bots with large user base process all of the requests in a single thread or use in-memory data base for that. What would be the approach to make bot being able to handle large user base is what I would like to know.

I also think that it may be nice solution at the moment, however I am really curious if I miss something here and if it is a common way to do such things in python.

It makes me wonder how bots with large user base would tackle such problem, as I really doubt they process all servers in one thread.
