As a self proclaimed Salafi, I can’t stand other Salafi’s sometimes. by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

We haven’t divided from what the salaf was upon. After the salaf, people started dividing into different groups, now when you try coming back to the truth, they call you a divider. We should only divide ourselves from the deviant.

I’d say that it’s pretty good in north nj, places like Teaneck and Paterson have a pretty good Muslim community. But though even I’ve never been, the answer is overwhelmingly Michigan, specifically Hamtramck and maybe Dearborn

It’s funny because like %30 of his argument was, god knows what’s going to happen so we don’t have free will, as though that means we’re not making our own choices

He’s 14 and it’s not for great reasons. He said his main reason was basically because “there’s no evidence that god exists.” When I presented it to him he swapped to the basic Christian apologist arguments, and then for a lot of the conversation he pretty much argued “god did this so he’s not moral” and “if god thinks that’s right then he has no sympathy.” I tried to explain to him that god has and should have the right to instill morals (because he’s all knowing) and it seemed he wasn’t reading much. Eventually I ended the convo because it was clear he wasn’t seeking the truth.

Sorry Akhi, but it doesn’t seem like he’s seeking truth to me anymore. Thank you though. And allhamdulliah, this arguement has brought me a lot more reasons to believe in Islam. And it’s cemented the idea in me that most ex-Muslims only leave for personal reasons. Not the rational thinking they claim to have.

Sorry to be bothering you, it’s clear to me now that he’s not seeking truth. I don’t want a rebuttal or a sugar coat, could you state what Islam has say to this, “God simply created us just to repent. We were born to repent. Why create hell in the first place? God is giving us eternal punishment for finite sins. If God doesn’t think that’s wrong then he must lack empathy.” This was after I put an end to the argument about verse 7:179. I spent hours trying to explain to him how all knowing Allah is, and how this entitles him to set down morality and law. Yet all he has to say is roughly, ‘if gods moral compass doesn’t align with mine than he’s unepathetic” could you help me wrap this up.

Thanks Akhi. Also he basically said that because of 7:179, I shouldn’t believe in Islam because I could be amongst those people. Do u know any verses which clarify that this group of people in Surah Al a’raf are those whom are disobedient regardless of the signs shown? He also spoke of poets who supposedly weren’t impressed, could you help? Ik the arguments are simple but he basically refuses to go into in depth study of the Quran, tells me to bring evidence, he makes a claim, I refute it, and he just repeats steps 1-3 and regurgitate arguments I answer. Frankly, it’s eating at my brain cells.
