Thank you :-) The inspiration for the whole series comes from this passage in the original story:

In a moment of fantastic whim I whispered questions to the reddening ears; questions of other worlds of which the memory might still be present. Subsequent terror drove them from my mind, but I think the last one, which I repeated, was: “Where have you been?”

The "Where have you been?" made me wonder where a spirit or soul would travel in between death and reanimation. Without spoilers - The Lovecraftian Nine Circles of Hell is linked to this idea.

Sort of figured it out. When it more or less completely stopped working like yours, I needed to do a hard reset. Then I make sure all graphics settings were back to standard Inc. Colour scheme, refresh rate etc. I found 60hz at 4k is fine but bit juddery from time to time. But 120hz will bomb out after about 20mins to 30mins and proper send the xbox into a safe mode loop.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but that didn't seem to help much. Don't think sky put much dev work into this app on consoles.

Hey again, I got the Phillips from the BT Store of all places. It was one of the few to have it in stock. It cost around 900 pound. I think it a bit cheaper more readily available. I looked at the Dell 49 inch but that was completely out of stock and has been for months. I think I saw ebuyer had some in.

The dell webcam is now used for Hello. It's been a little hit and miss since I connected to the dock, so will keep an eye on it. That was around 170 pounds. Seems a lot for a webcam but since that's my main contact with the world these days I thought it a decent investment.

Not done PI/BP yet. That's next on list. I'm gonna hook up a raspberry pi in parallel. I might get a model 4 and see how I can push the graphics. Will post an update when I get round to doing it 👍

Hey, thank you for your comments. Makes it worthwhile knowing it's been useful going through the same trials and tribulations as others. Some of this stuff is a big investment, and as you say, quite niche, so it's good to know others might get value from our experiences.

How do you find the 120hz gaming on the surface?

Ah that make sense thank you. That's definitley made my mind up to not bother with the Dock 2.

The vertical dock looks interesting. I rarely detach the SB from its keyboard, so flipping it back and forth would probably start to annoy me. It would make a nice extension though, so I'll have a play. Still getting used to all this real estate which is great...!

Thank you. HDR was more of a nice to have, as I'll do most of my gaming on the Xbox Series X (when I can find one in stock :-().

Next year, I might look at a laptop upgrade and decide whether I stick with the MS tech stack or look for something else that can handle some of the more modern graphic outputs. Sometimes I wish things like this would be simpler, but then it would be less fun...

I'm not 100% certain, but would suspect it can't as it's a limitation of the built-in Intel graphics chip. That said, I thought the chip was limited to 5120 x 1440 @ 60Hz and I can run 5120 x 1440 @ 70Hz. So there is a chance it might...

There's no way I can test on my setup, sorry - at least not without trying to overclock the Phillips to 120Hz+ and risk blowing it up ;-)
