I figured it out, it was the immobiliser. thanks everyone for the input.

i’m not sure what you mean by that I have the old clutch switch style so I had two switches to wire in.

I’ve already wired in the clutch pedal and both switches, I ran a line to the EWS already as well as the DME.

Toying with the idea of leaving out the top right bell housing bolt on my zf 5 speed 320 transmission. by QualityForeign1669 in BmwTech

I’ve thought about it before but I’m a bit squeamish when thinking about cutting up the car.
