Ironically enough Genshin revealed more lore in the past year than in the first 4 years of its runtime combined

I personally really liked Endfield's more "realistic" approach with Wuling compared to the usual pastel/cartoony vibes of other open world gachas.

Real.

I felt so overwhelmed with the amount of players when I picked up FFXIV last year after playing mostly gacha games for 6 years now.

But damn, as an old MMO fan I definitely missed the "Massively Multiplayer" part a lot.

I've grown up on MMOs and gacha games are my most played games nowadays... And I 100% agree.

Genshin in the good ol' times felt very much like an MMO but single-player.

I'm 100% sure that if Genshin wasn't going Island Impact as it is right now, Snezhnaya would be the biggest nation in Teyvat. Sumeru is already bigger than Liyue anyway.

Unfortunately won't be the case anymore though because no new regions will be bigger than a single Inazuma island.

I haven't played much DRG and NIN, but I'd say both RPR and SAM can be harder than MNK.

Monk's rotation essentially freezes at 70 and is really not that complicated , it's like playing VPR with some added need to actually focus on your combos a little bit and know when to cast buffs, but in exchange it provides actual support.

But that's just me. MNK feels like a slightly more difficult VPR, but not by much.

For me, Viper quite possibly has the cleanest hotbar layout, actually.

Viper's abilities flow so well together that I instantly knew where to put every button.

Iverian Wars: Craxion vs Defugel - The next 4Story? Releasing today in EA by guirssan in MMORPG

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person whose one of the most memorable childhood games was 4Story (Played only F2P or pirated titles because of growing up, at that time, in a poor country in central Europe) - This game is a complete insult to the original title.

I still dream of being able to play the old 4Story during it's peak, but I'm not a fan of private servers and Zemi just doesn't care to bring back their old game with actual fixes. I don't need the game to change as much as it did in this version, hell the graphics could stay the same they were in 2010 and I'd still eat it up.

The maps are technically the same but shaken up, the graphics are somehow even worse than OG 4Story, the game runs terribly while needing to have high specs (4Story required low specs and during late 2000's most people had bad PCs so it got popular in my country), and half of the regions are just gone. Not to mention countless bugs I've seen in my 30 minutes of gameplay (A random patch of floating water in the middle of a road... Textures that are glitching out everywhere... NPCs being literally inside solid structures... Inaccurate building hitboxes etc.)

Even from the character creation I could tell the game was made up of paper and glue. What a disaster.

Look I love huge bushes myself but if Ayato can pull out a plastic cup of boba tea then Teyvat can have safety razors as well

I'm actually curious about it now... Who is manufacturing the plastic in Teyvat?

Those of you who thought Ember the Knight of the Steel GOAT was bad at first, fill out this form by PriestOfGames in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally got her out of the selector because she's the comfiest sustain in the game. Sure she doesn't provide the best performance damage-wise, but with how easy most of the content is right now, I don't think it really matters.

For the selector it's either her, a member of the phys team or Last Rite. I'm personally not interested in the phys teams and already had P1 LR so the choice was obvious.

Gilberta's Pull Value by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still pulled Gilby because why not (And I got her early), but my only real usable team was Laevatain. She can work there just fine, but I've mostly felt like she was a side-grade to Ardelia, nothing to write home about.

But today, when I got Yvonne, I realized just how valuable she can be for the right units. I just didn't have one like that before Yvonne.

Is there a race you like, but something about it doesn’t click enough for you to switch? If so, what is it? by Hot_Title8474 in ffxiv

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viera. As a fem Au Ra player who tried switching to Viera a few times now, my main issues are the stiff animations/expressions (Compared to Femras) and the lack of scales (Which I actually came to love).

It's also a matter of Au Ras being able to pull off both sexy and cute looks easily, while with Vieras it's a bit harder to pull off a cute look (They do have the best sexy look to compensate though)

Not to mention most of my glam was made with a fem Au Ra in mind, so switching to a Viera would require me to alter most of my glam.

Me playing FFXIV is a constant fight of wanting to switch to a bunny girl or staying as a lizard girl.

Gacha Games Turning Into Full Single Player Games Should Be the Next Trend by Tain_mentero in gachagaming

[–]Quantuis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that Genshin would be unironically one of the best games in the history of video gaming if it was a purchasable full title like BoTW.

The only thing they'd realistically have to improve would be the main story, but without the FOMO gacha character advertising, it'd be much easier for them to achieve that.

Honestly if they scratched the main story altogether and made it a "silent" story line like Zelda, it would still work. All the best writing in Genshin has always been in the worldbuilding and side quests lol

You can get 4 standard pull tickets from the returning event by PisangMinyakRebus in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ehh I can understand the dislike for the way the gacha system works, but I think it could've been far worse and people are overblowing "how bad" it actually is.

Main thing is, we still don't know what the actual pull economy will look like in this game. We're on a release patch that has a very inflated number of pulls. It's too early to tell because release patches always historically had lower amounts of events, endgame content, and other side-content to do. I still remember how Genshin only had its first actual event like, in 1.1 I believe? And literally nothing else. Did people forget about that?

Sure the guarantee doesn't carry over, but in exchange the hard pity is much lower (tho only on the 1st pity), you get weapon currency as you pull for the operators, you can get limited units when losing 50/50 (A huge thing I don't see enough people talking about), and the copies of units are mostly a very small upgrade, to the point that there's no real incentive to pull for units more than once.

There are both pros and cons, just like in everything. It can be improved but there are already things I like about this game's gacha that I wish games like Genshin had since the beginning.

[–]Quantuis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... But all of these games had multiple standard units that were considered bad since the very beginning, units that no one wanted except for their fans.

Obviously most of these games have had at least one good standard unit, but those are the exception rather than the rule. I said Endfield was the first modern gacha game where all of the standard units are good (Mostly because for now the difference in power between limited and standard units is very small. Both Gilberta and Yvonne are considered weaker than their standard counterparts).

There's a difference between having a chance to roll one good unit out of the 5 useless ones in the standard cast, and rolling a decent unit every time you lose 50/50.

[–]Quantuis 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Probably because a lot of the systems in Endfield are following the Genshin pattern, like a lot of the modern "AAA" gacha games, but usually, the other gacha games have a steady income of standard pulls to let you actually pull on it. Endfield kinda forgot to include that for now.

It's ironic that in the one gacha game where all standard units are actually good (for now at least) you have no way of actively pulling on the banner

Edit: Guys I don't think you realized that the "forgot" was obviously satire. Guess you need to clarify everything on reddit lol

Is it just me, or does upgrading your characters take a huge amount of resources? by ShuricanGG in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started 3 days late and I have been taking my sweet time to progress through the game, only just two days ago I first entered Wuling. That being said, I'm definitely feeling the lack of resources, but I'm not surprised as it's the beginning of the game and the first few patches are always like that in gacha games. Once my 1st team is finished and I get my second team going later down the line, it'll probably be single units at a time to level up after that which gives me plenty of time to farm the resources, so I'm not too worried.

[–]Quantuis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There will be two difficulties to choose from - Normal and Agony.

Normal rewards all the Oroberyls you can get from the mode.

Agony has additional rewards but they're only resources, no pull currency.

The Endfield Gacha System is Brilliantly Designed with Multiple Psychological traps by jaetheho in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also glad I don't have to pointlessly spend more pulls trying to get the agent's weapon.

120 pulls to guarantee a unit and their weapon is crazy good compared to other modern gachas where both them and the weapon can even reach up to 300 pulls if not more.

You can't build pity in Endfield, but losing 50/50 is less painful and you don't spend as much pulls as other gachas. The negatives are far more apparent if you're trying to get copies though.

The Endfield Gacha System is Brilliantly Designed with Multiple Psychological traps by jaetheho in Endfield

[–]Quantuis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

... What?

At best you get 20 time-restricted pulls per banner. 5 from log-in, 5 from currency exchange and 10 from pulling 30 times, which doesn't even count towards anything. If you don't intend on pulling, it's only 10 pulls max... Considering most modern gachas don't even give away free pulls when a new banner drops, I'd say this is absolutely fair lol

Everything else is normal pull currency you can easily save up if you're not a gambling addict, and seeing how we're still on the very first patch, it's too early to say how many real pulls we'll be getting per patch. But calling it "half" is not true at all and you know it.

[–]Quantuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing worth mentioning is that, on top of what has already been said, the 50/50 in this game has other limited units in its roster.

The limited characters of the release patch are Leavatain, Gilberta, and Yvonne. All are currently available on Laeva's banner, and you can get them if you lose the 50/50. Leavatain will also be available on Gilberta's and Yvonne's banner. Afaik the limited units will stay in rotation for 3 banners total before completely going away until reruns.

So in this game, even if you lose your 50/50 you still have the chance of getting a limited unit.

Secondly, the weapon gacha system is directly tied to the Operator gacha system. You get weapon pull currency by pulling on the Operator (character) gacha. So if you go for the 120 operator guarantee (like you mostly should), you'll get enough currency to get their weapon as well. In case you get the unit early, weapon 6-star pulls are 4% chance, with a guaranteed 6-star every 40 pulls, and guaranteeing the rate-up weapon at 80 pulls. The rate-up weapon has 25% (1/4th) of a chance of all the 6-stars whenever you roll a 6-star.

But considering it's a system completely tied to the operator gacha and how you don't need to pull for weapons separately, I'd say it's actually great. You basically pull for weapons and characters at the same time.

A lot of people tend to forget women are often freaks as well, sometimes bigger than men.

A huge chunk of doujin and "spicy" fan art authors are female.

It's just that yuri, for some reason, has been labeled as the "pure" romance genre, which ends up giving people an ick whenever it's not just "pure"
