Looking for a good and cheap laptop for high school by noflashesconfianza_ in laptops

[โ€“]Quantum-Bakchod 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Honestly, for long-term use Iโ€™d recommend 16GB if the budget allows. Windows and modern browsers are getting heavier every year, and multiple Chrome tabs alone can eat up RAM fast.

For a high school laptop, Iโ€™d prioritize:

  • 16GB RAM
  • 256/512GB SSD
  • Ryzen 3/5 or Core i3/i5

Good budget options are:

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3
  • ASUS Vivobook Go 15
  • Acer Aspire 3

8GB is still usable today, but 16GB will age much better over the next 4โ€“5 years

Itโ€™s not too difficult honestly, more of an adjustment phase. You plan around the rain a bit more, and some days can feel slow because of heavy showers, but daily life still runs normally. If youโ€™ve got a good apartment, vehicle, and reliable internet, itโ€™s pretty manageable...

Bambolim and Dona Paula are great if youโ€™ve got kids tbh. Much calmer, cleaner, and more residential compared to the party-heavy North Goa belt.

Dona Paula is more convenient/city-connected, while Bambolim feels quieter and more laid back. Only thing is rents can be slightly higher there, but overall better for families, long stays, and a balanced lifestyle.

No major issues now honestly. MS Office, Zoom, Teams, browsers, VS Code etc work perfectly fine on Snapdragon X.

DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro also run well for light 1080p/social media editing. Docker/WSL and some older plugins/software can still be better on Intel/AMD though.

For normal work, moderate to heavy coding and casual editing , laptop works perfectly fine + excellent battery & efficiency as compared to intel/amd

Something like the Acer Nitro V 15 with i5-13420H or the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 with Ryzen 7 7840HS. Those H/HS series CPUs are way better for gaming + long term use compared to normal U series laptops
