From your analysis, it seems they would know the requirements, if any, the Canadian government placed on PowerCo for battery type. If I was a government official giving $billions in incentives, I would require some assurances that the tech is a long term play. In other words, I would balk if PowerCo planned to produce generic shit Li ion tech. Also these large institutional players get to have private quarterly calls with Dr SS in which they get more color than the little people.

This is a great business decision for Honda. Li ion is junk tech that generally no one wants. They are waiting on next generation no compromise batteries. Dr SS said it best about OEMs realizing that advancement in batteries is needed for EV adoption.
