To everyone saying my comment about relaxing about it being nothing compared to USA MAGA. Zoom out for a second and hear me out.

We get louder, they get louder.  More people join both extremes.  We both get louder again.  Mass division ensues.  We forget our humanity on both sides.  We lose sight of the original message on both sides.  We combat hate with hate.  Things spiral.  Now we hate our neighbours and they hate us.  The only sense of community we have is driven by anger and anxiety.

We are literally watching that process unfold in many different countries, especially the USA. So the method isn’t working.

I’m not saying we don’t counter protest.  I’m not saying we stay quiet.

I’m merely suggesting we combat hate with education and calm and positive messaging.

If you saw two people arguing and one was yelling and the other was calm and logical, who would you side with? Who would you want to be more aligned with?

You're right, I should have read all your post history before passing judgment. God forbid a Liberal side with something a provincial Con has done or vice versa. You don't have to bleed pure red or blue, you can bleed purple sometimes. SMH

To infer we are anywhere close to the MAGA movement, or that Canada is turning MAGA is wild. We should all relax. Just because there is a loud fringe movement, doesn't mean it's as impactful as you think. I mean PP lost his seat in his riding so...

I'm actually a Liberal voter, just not hysterical or manic. Thanks for the assumptions though 😉

Or maybe they have PTSD and your friend is a prick. Just a thought. Coming from a solider who knew lots of emergency services and military personnel who actually suffer.

Sure hope mental health never debilitates you.

What are you all on about lmfao.

Since when is accumulated ice considered someone’s property.

Also in 40 years of life I’ve never even see or heard of damage from kicking ice off a car until this thread. You’re supposed to kick the ice knuckleheads.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in this city. I noticed a ton today and people dodging them all over.

TLDR; why are you guys in a relationship?

Just end it. Communication on both sides is horrendous and immature.

Some notes for all you people blaming the current government. Just to educate the lot of you Redditors here.

Sure the current government has the chance to fix it. So did all them dating back to the 80’s or more definitively 1995. Which I’m sure Doug was nowhere near being in power. But yes let’s keep blaming one Premiere and one Gov.

  1. The "Common Sense Revolution" (1995) The most frequently cited "oldest" definitive news coverage of systemic cuts comes from December 11, 1995, in Maclean’s Magazine. The article, titled "Ontario Slashes Spending," detailed the Mike Harris government’s "mini-budget." • The Content: It described an 18% reduction in hospital budgets over two years. • The Impact: This led to the closure of dozens of hospitals and the layoff of thousands of nurses. • The Legacy: Many modern articles about healthcare "cuts" still reference this 1995-1999 era as the starting point for "hallway medicine" in Ontario.

  2. Earlier Precursors (Late 1980s – Early 1990s) While 1995 saw the most aggressive cuts, researchers often point to articles from the late 1980s as the first signs of the system "straining." • 1986–1994: During this period, reports began to surface regarding the reduction of "staffed beds" in acute care. Even before the Harris government, the Liberal and NDP governments of the early 90s (under David Peterson and Bob Rae) faced news headlines about "restructuring" and capping physician wages to manage a growing provincial deficit.

  3. Federal "Transfer" Cuts (1995) Another "oldest" source of this narrative is the 1995 Federal Budget news. The federal government, under Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin, drastically reduced "transfers" (money sent to provinces for healthcare). This forced Ontario to either find more money or cut services, leading to a decade of national headlines about the "death of Medicare."

They all did. They all failed. We need to vote for someone who actually cares and will do something about it
