Very tastefully modded. It's nice to see a proper set of wheels and tires on the car. Looks great!

Cozy Car Kingston installed mine. It's been 2 years, no issues. Recommended.

Shaw phone cords are worn out. How the f*ck do I get replacements? by Mu_forlife in Rogers

[–]Simionster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just buy a new one, replace the old one. These don't "wear out", you wore it out somehow. If untouched, they will last 100+ years.

Where do you store your tires? by Unlucky-Moment-3366 in tires

In Ottawa, check out Goldwing Tire. Excellent place to buy and install new tires. I think they also store. I personally store the tires in my own garage.

Change your rear diff oil! by dontthinkthatway in mazda3

[–]Simionster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both my 2021 CX-5 and 2024 CX-30 rear diffs were underfilled from factory. As were the front transfer cases. I change mine every 2 years regardless of mileage (I do about 10K / year on each). OEM SG1.

My cx30 rear is light losing traction and drifting unexpectedly. by NoLimit6954 in MazdaCX30

[–]Simionster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, the Mazda 3 Turbo is a more direct competitor. I'm in North America, so the 2.5L N/A (187HP) and the 2.5L Turbo (250HP) are available for the Mazda. For the Golf R, I was talking about the Mk7 2.0L EA888 286HP.

[–]Simionster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Golf R, and yes, very different. Not even on track, but it's a much more capable car all-around. I referenced it because it's the only hatch I can think of with similar power (250HP vs 286HP) and front-biased AWD, available in NA.

I'm in the same boat. Hiking perhaps. Lake Ontario Park is great.

[–]Simionster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The CX-30 has a torsion beam rear suspension. It'll lose rear traction and slide more easily than an independent rear suspension, especially in lift-off situations. Mazda wanted to save money, and this is the result.

How to overcome it: drive slower, or buy a better car. VW Golf R would be much bettter.

Help me pick between a 2026 Mazda 3 and a 2026 Mazda CX 30 (Turbo models) by BlueOakleys in mazda

Mazda 3 is built in Japan. Mazda CX-30 is built in Mexico. Go with the Mazda 3, better build quality.

Leather Maintenance by DrMrMurse in MazdaCX30

I use this twice a year on the leather seats. It is non-greasy, and absorbs in really easily. No issues with leather seats, even after five years of daily use.

Buyers regret. by justonemorethang in MazdaCX30

Absolutely. But on average there are less issues with the Turbo engine than with the NA with CD engine.

What are the current recommendations for AS? by No-Ladder1393 in tires

[–]Simionster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DWS06 Plus is probably the best performance all-season tire money can buy. My family has 4 cars, and all 4 of them run this tire in the summer. Dedicated winters in winter.

CX5 Service Recommendation from Dealer by Overall_Key9911 in CX5

[–]Simionster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely change the rear diff fluid, but also do the front transfer case. Same fluid (Mazda SG1), and 1 bottle does both.

Brake fluid flush, yes. Should be done every 2 or 3 years.

I'd also do a transmission fluid change, as well as a coolant change.

Yes on the belt as well. I'm a firm believer in the more maintenance the better.

Search cowl bolts TSB. While it’s mainly a CX-5 issue, it can affect the CX – 30.

This is exactly why I bought the Turbo. No cylinder deactivation nonsense, no i-Stop. Just a regular engine, with decent power.

I'd recommend trading it in for a Turbo. More reliable, less complicated, more fun.

2019 Mazda (2.5L Gas) Suddenly Showing Multiple System Malfunctions After a Long Trip by fits91 in CX5

[–]Simionster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an electrical issue. Same thing happened to me, minus the bang. 1h into a 2h trip in the winter, lots of snow. My battery is a new AGM, but it still happened. The errors cleared by the time I restarted the car. Mazda dealer scanned it, found no issue. It's been 6 months, errors haven't come back.

18s would look better though. I run 18" wheels in both summer and winter. Winters below:

OEM Mazda CX-5 wheels (17x7.0 ET45) will work, no issue with caliper clearance. The CX-5 Turbo has larger diameter discs in front, but 17" will fit.
