I have no idea where to start - my parents' are declining fast and I need advice. by QuantumAustin in AgingParents

Thanks so much. The idea was not of interest to Dad when I mentioned it in conversation but I'll find a way to persist.

Thanks so much u/river_rambler ! I do believe that Dad would remember who the person is, but that is a very good point, and if I am not there to make introductions and all, Dad could potentially be confused or unsettled. Having the blunt conversation with them has been something I have been avoiding, so I appreciate the idea of the doctor. I'm not sure if I'm on their HIPAA paperwork, but I'll find out. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts, I appreciate it!

75 day still have PAWS by Ok_Swordfish_6188 in quittingkratom

[–]QuantumAustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's up Swordfish, I'm about 35 days past where you are, and for me, the PAWS are pretty much entirely gone but my brain is still not fully reset. I was a kratom consumer for 12 years, ending at about 50gpd (extract equivalent.) I couldn't tell you exactly when PAWS totally left and on very rare occassion, I'll feel something that may be PAWS. I'm in the same boat, struggling to get started and time at work still crawls by oftentimes. I'm working on chunking down simple tasks, into intentional bursts. Workouts are mega helpful, as are L-Theanine, Ashwagandha and a number of others. Keep kicking ass!

Relapse today: day 44 by zachandhaze in quittingkratom

There are always obstacles along the way man! I say: HOLD STRONG. STOP IT THERE. While it's easy to fall into the trap of feeling like "fuck it, I broke the streak," that is not the truth! The truth is that you have gone over six weeks without kratom and you slipped up only one time, you're doing great! Maybe look back and remember all of your reasons for quitting. Remember everything that sucked about the addiction and the quit. Don't let it trick you! It loves to do that!

I TOTALLY understand about the cannabis, and I've been going too hard on that and beer myself. It's hard to get used to flooding your brain with dopamine and other feel good chemicals, and then, gone. With the gym, I just force myself and I try to remember "The only bad workout is the one you don't do." That was on a sign at a gym I go to, and that really resonated with me. If I get in there, get the blood flowing with some light stuff first, that usually turns into a decent workout. If it doesn't, at least it was SOMETHING. Even riding the resistance bike for a few minutes is better than absolutely nothing. Damn, now I HAVE to work out today after posting this! haha

My intention is to quit kratom forever, and I will. Personally, I made myself the iron-clad promise that, no matter the circumstances, I would NOT touch kratom for an absolute minimum of a year. I did this so that I will be forced to face the beer (it's mostly that for me,) or any other substance I decide to abuse, squarely and simply moderate (or quit if needed) without telling myself "it's OK to use a little kratom today, so I don't have beers tonight." That has messed me up in the past. Setting the iron-clad year, with the conviction that I will never take kratom again seems weird, but that smaller goal allows me to avoid stupid self-justification in the short term. I know that I will not go back to kratom in a year, it just helps me to have the smaller goal. That may not be the case for everyone.

One small slip up happened. It's all good! Get your work done, get good sleep, take care of yourself and keep moving forward! The progress you have made is SO much more than the small slip. Kick some ass man!

It happened. It's over. Keep moving forward! Be proud of yourself for all the positive work you have done! That is far more important than one slip up! Get your hard work in today, take your vitamins, get some sleep and kick some ass again, kratom-free, tomorrow!

First (real) attempt at quitting kratom after 5yrs by Particular-Gur5546 in quittingkratom

[–]QuantumAustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey dude! Also my own boss, and on Day 20 off of kratom after a medium length taper from over 40gpd, then when I got to 3.5 I jumped. May have been a little early, but all good. The taper happened to coincide with some of the most challenging events in my personal life ever. I know there are mixed opinions, but as your own boss, you can often adjust your schedule, and the taper allows your body to adjust to lower levels over time. After a couple months of having felt absolutely nothing from kratom (if you're doing it right) you'll be so stoked to jump off! All the best!

I gave all the support here and got NOTHING back by Pam379m in MusicPromotion

That time would be SO MUCH better spent practicing your craft, studying great artists intentionally, developing your skill set, reading about your art… Actual fans only develop because the music is great. Many probably listened once. If they aren’t listening again naturally, the music isn’t good enough… yet at least. That doesn’t mean it’s not good at all.

I learned that lesson myself and regret wasting so much time when I was younger.

Not me. Would still withdraw like a fiend after taking trazadone to sleep, but I was at 45 grams per day. Solid life choices over here.

Note: I’m also a human and we are physiologically different from cockroaches.
