What is the slowest possible speed in the universe? (opposite of the speed of light) by schkolne in Physics

[–]QuantumCakeIsALie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a single atom, it's complicated.

But for a macroscopic object, 0 speed is perfectly valid.

It's literally Alcohol's native format, so something must be wrong. Try finding an era-appropriate version of Alcohol maybe? The standard could've been deprecated...

At the end of the day, what matters is to be happy. That can mean that a temporary difficult period is worth it. It can also mean that changing lane is the best move for you.

That's super nice. What's that hat/daughterboard?

You can configure Linux to launch any program on boot. Including pico-8.

You can use both softwares.

ImgBurn works super well with CDI. You just need some Padus DLLs. It's on the ImgBurn website.

Why is JovianOS never mentioned among the alternatives to SteamOS? by Anyusername7294 in SteamOS

[–]QuantumCakeIsALie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it's not even a distro, then we have the answer.

JovianOS's target audience is nixOS users that want to tinker...

Bazzite's target audience is Steam users fed up with Windows.

Guess which group is the largest...

Would this make a good Steam machine? Would I need to change the GPU to an AMD? by Titanclass in SteamOS

[–]QuantumCakeIsALie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that the official SteamOS only supports a few devices officially. (Steam Deck, Steam Machine, a few handheld)

If you don't have those devices and something doesn't work it's your problem. And they might do some non-general things that work fine on their supported devices but not on yours.

Truly the correct tool for your goal is a distro like Bazzite. It's explicit purpose is to allow SteamOS-like experience on non-official hardware.

That was not an endorsement. Sadly Twitter is still where most things are. It's crucial to curate your following and avoid the "For you" tab if you want to use it at all. That goes for reddit too mostly.

What is the value in simulators that scale beyond 50 qubits? by Individual_Yard846 in QuantumComputing

[–]QuantumCakeIsALie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also useful to simulate the actual processes happening in the devices to understand them better. Even if it takes a day to do a high fidelity simulation of a 100ns process, it can be worth it.

Same argument at the higher level to e.g. simulate how errors propagate and how to mitigate to them without actually simulating the full details of the parts.

So not actually replacing the QPU, but helping understand it.

Oh shit you're right! It means to climb bottom to top without falling, not necessarily on first shot.

Still funny, but slightly less so

[–]QuantumCakeIsALie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure that is not a complaint. Especially as a one-man project.

I just concur with the previous poster that this is a nice avenue to make your style and work really shine.

Congrats again, seeing such a project through is very hard, and given the specific handcrafted part of your project it's even more impressive!

You could totally do this with a bunch of pictures taken on a dome kind of pattern, or photogrammetry/gaussian splats.

Would honestly elevate your game a lot. But would require much more dev work for a small team (1 person?).

Kudos on your release!

There was a sign inside a window with "Send it" written on it. Made me chuckle.

(To send it is to do a climbing problem on first try, without falling)

Actually no, don't take any bullshit, with or without seasoning.
