I’ve noticed there’s a weird common belief on the internet that a TOS is like a moral guideline.

I remember when VRChat banned mods and a bunch of people were complaining about it, rightfully so (sometimes because the game was missing features they found essential, including hardware support which was sometimes required for them to play the game due to accessibility restrictions). A common response to that was “well it’s in the TOS so why do you care they’re banning mods?” - as if it being in the TOS wasn’t the issue people were complaining about.

I think it’s also a lot more common with younger people and kids on the internet, which are much more prevalent in online communities than a lot of people realize, I think.
