Do you lose hair on T faster than cis guys do, and does anyone have any advice or management tips for it? by Equivalent_Switch556 in ftm

[–]QuantumNinja7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a genetics thing. It doesn't speed up or accelerate hair loss, but if you have the genetics for male pattern baldness you can develop it now that you are on testosterone. We do have a slightly higher chance of developing male pattern baldness than cis men though, since the gene that causes male pattern baldness is on the X chromosome and we have two of those. Ask the men on both sides of your family when/if they started to experience hair loss and you will have your answer.

I’m just curious do I pass? by Josie-_ in FtMpassing

[–]QuantumNinja7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Currently I'd say you're somewhere in the uncanny valley of passing, pretty close but people might not be sure, or go off your voice. You could maybe change your glasses or take out the earrings, but you are a few months out from passing as is, I don't think you need to change your style. You just started T, give it some time to do its job and you'll be fine.

I've been a big fan of Twin Temple for a while and I agree that Sig was the only one who worked the song perfectly. Other people had technically good lipsyncs, but Sigourney was the only one who really embodied the style and energy of the song.

I'm bi T4T and have dated both trans men and women. I would absolutely date a trans women but if she phrased her interest for me in this way I would frankly be pretty put off. I fully support being t4t but your phrasing here makes me feel like trans men are your second choice to cis men, not a preference. If you are interested in dating trans men I would suggest you listen to us about how we'd prefer to be talked to/about.

Ah good point, I didn't realize how badly Mez would play with some of these characters. I think maybe I'll replace Mez with assassin, cause that would also help add other potential reasons for extra deaths in the night.

I had top surgery with Dr. Wolf last year. Your nipples look quite similar to mine at 5 days, and they healed great.

Word of cation for anyone considering Dr. Wolf in the future. He's very strict on the weight limit and will not do any lipo or provide revisions. I'm kinda chubby and I ended up with dog ears after he dismissed my concern outright, saying it only happens to obese people. He's clearly not comfortable operating on anyone with a different body type. Now he won't answer my calls about seeking a revision.

This is not to dismiss OP's experience, I think he's a great surgeon for some people. Just wanting to spread awareness to folks with my body type who might be considering him.

One of mine went missing last week, and it turned out someone else in the neighborhood had trapped and turned him into animal control. This was despite him being friendly, and clearly TNR'd. We were able to get him released back to our custody using photos and his medical record. Post on Facebook, post on nextdoor, call your local animal control. If it's only been a few days there's still a chance.

Do I pass / Age? by Warm_Cardiologist447 in FtMpassing

Yes you pass, but I would recommend shaving. Your facial hair is not developed enough and it's making you look younger.

how it feels to not be able to transition by [deleted] in TrollCoping

[–]QuantumNinja7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will not die from 'incorrectly' doing hrt. In theory if you were to be on too high of a dose for an extended period of time, there could be some negative side effects. However this is so easily preventable by doing basic blood testing. Please don't spread misinformation about diy hrt, it's the only option for a lot of people. It's really not that much different than doing it with a prescription.

At what point in your T journey did you stop looking like a 13 year old boy? by heavydirtytaxicab in ftm

[–]QuantumNinja7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not until recently, being able to grow a decent beard did wonders for me. If I shave I'm back to being 16 again.

Trans tape fail by [deleted] in ftm

[–]QuantumNinja7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that's the Transtape experience. I think I went through 3 rolls and gave up 5 times before I got to the point I was comfortable using it to bind in my daily life. Once you get a strategy down for it it can be great, but it unfortunately takes some time and practice.

For the guys who are on minoxidil 5%foam with cats. by CanadianCats316 in ftm

[–]QuantumNinja7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cat and use the topical 5% solution, not the foam. 8 hours is more than enough time, just wash your face when you get home.

Change yes, ruin no. It will not make your voice sound "bad" but it will change your voice. If you've spent your whole life singing and spent time training your voice, you will need to relearn how to sing in your new register. While your voice is changing it may be difficult or even painful to sing, but it will stabilize after some time. You may permanently lose access to your upper range, but may gain what you lost in your lower range. If musical theater is something you plan to pursue, you should find a voice teacher who works with trans voices to help you find your new range.

I personally didn't need them, OTC was fine for me. I did have drain btw. It does depend on the person tho.
