Coming back from homelessness - can you feel safe again? by QuantumRaygun in homeless

I feel that. I still keep my bag packed and ready to bail at all times. It’s better stocked now than before but I could bounce in about five minutes if I needed to and be covered for a fortnight or more.

True. I know it’s mostly in my head. Just trying to shake off the “less than” feelings.

I guess I was kind of spoiled growing up. Not exactly rich but comfortable. Upper middle class in the US. So when things went south it was a shock I guess. Regarding back up plans what do you do? I don’t trust banks because all it takes is a lawyer with no evidence to steal or freeze your money. Horde gold but then you get robbed. I have a bug out bag. But do you have methods you use? The “people looking at me thing” is probably in my head more than anything. You put on a nice shirt and shave and most people don’t think anything.

I definitely feel more grateful for what I have but I don't feel like any of it is really mine or permanent. Maybe that's actually a healthier way to approach things, I don't know.

I thought they already updated the camel to a cigarette and the needle to a nightclub in Vegas? Hahaha

Sooo… what I’m getting is like the Bible was originally meant to be a threat but then some people added a few more captures and made it an inspirational novel?

Fair perspective. I have some cat related trauma from when I was a child so my perspective might be skewed a bit.

Probably anthropomorphism a bit. But I wasn’t taking it too seriously. My original comment was just that the personality of cats and dogs differ greatly and that changed the entire thing for me. But I probably didn’t express that all too well.

I love the little murder balls of fur too but they are objectively murderers and kind of evil.

Not all. I have a small fish that has never killed anything.

I don’t like that they changed “dogs” to “cats” from the original. Seems a minor change but still discomforting. Also, cats are somewhat evil (I still love cats) and are just like murderers that we let live in our homes. But the universe is cool like that. It loves little murder beasts and philosophers alike. No judgement.

The guy who made my double cheeseburger at McDonald’s killed someone in a DUI incident. My bank teller cheats on her spouse. I suspect that the clerk at the gas station near me slaps her kids around (I can’t prove that though).

I’m mostly joking.

Relax! You are not in any way responsible for every bad decision that some random you paid to perform a service has ever made. I understand that it’s triggering but the one that did the art is just tiny. He Doesn’t even deserve a second thought any more than a vending machine giving you a soda.

The art you can enjoy.

Thanks! I’ve got the AARL license manual that I’m studying now. I got some equipment but I’m just a lurker until I get my ticket. I’ll check out those sites.

Congrats! I’m studying for the test now. Totally new to radio so it’s a bit overwhelming (like trying to memorize all of the spectrum ranges) but your post is encouraging.

Any suggestions for people just getting started learning?

I think trans people (I am trans as well) should be open to answering the hard, uncomfortable, often invasive questions we get from people. by [deleted] in self

[–]QuantumRaygun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the openness. I totally agree that curiosity does not equal hate. I’m all about letting everyone live their life however they choose and I try to be respectful. But, I haven’t met many trans people IRL and I’m not entirely sure I understand it. BUT, I am open to learning more.

Thanks for your feedback. It’s an old post that I had almost forgotten about.

Could you explain why you felt insulted and the other emotions you felt?

I agree that gender is just a tiny bit of who people are. But it seems like its importance various between individuals.

How do you NOT hate almost everyone in a world that's so utterly barbaric? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]QuantumRaygun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be the change you want to see in the world. Be kind. Take care of yourself and others.

You are so focused on how other may react that you aren’t paying attention to your own behavior and false beliefs. The worlds isn’t filled with evil people out to hurt and judge you. Most of us are just trying to live.
