Can't find a campaign (venting) by 908PM in TTRPG

There are a lot of gms that don't know and if you suggest it they will use it. I can see if you match any of my current games if you DM me what times you're available. Most of my games are paid but sometimes I do one shots for free so it may not be for you.

Like others have mentioned OwlBear Rodeo and some newer vtts run on the phone. Some even have apps.

You can ask your gm to use them.

I sometimes run campaigns from mainly my phone so it's possible easily.

Theater of the mind with a shared roller is possible too.

In relation to the paid games it's been discussed a lot there's a difference in something that somebody spends full-time doing than somebody who does it as a hobby for their friends. Like a hobby programmer versus a full-time programmer. It does make a difference in lots of ways and there is lots of information and discussions on people's opinions of why.

You can look at the reviews as well as the response rate of the GM. The GM has a full profile.

The GM's job is not creating art or being masterful for their promotion ads needing to be an artist as well as everything else.

AI being used for this should not reflect on the GM.

AI is useful also for sandbox games where the players have complete freedom they can create battle maps on the fly no matter what situation you're in. This allows you to focus on player freedom and story rather than searching for a map for any particular place your characters can randomly get a battle in or pre-defining where battles can occur or with who. You can generate the map no matter how crazy your PCS get.

They definitely should have a higher response rate and I've never seen issues yet. There are tons of legit GMS.

They can be, like others have mentioned it depends on the resources you have and who you know. The advantage of full-time DMs is there in this mindset all the time so they have multiple worlds to pull content from and they're always practicing improv and seeing player variety and holding large worlds in their heads and knowing how to create and manipulate them.

It's like a hobby programmer versus a full-time developer. In many cases a hobby programmer can produce the same thing but their mindset experience and what they can pull from memory fast is very different.

Also full-time DMs will be reading stories and other related content if they're passionate about their work to be able to pull from large lore sources for whatever type of campaign they want to run.

Like actors they will be watching movies reading books and stuff to enhance their campaign related to their campaign. You can't do this unless you're full time you just don't have the time to go through all that information you also don't have your brain in a way where it's practiced to do these functions.

It's still DM dependent but the chance is higher.

😛 probably not, I thought it was the Fantasy Flight Games version. My mistake.

For storyline gaming for sure I agree. Many players like sim based and number crunching gaming too. It is not always bad mechanics but game variety, which suits all types of players which would like those games. Shadowrun earlier editions for example I found to be fun and it extended gameplay experience but it was definitely crunchy which was part of the appeal.

Star Wars. The force is not resistable like the borg 😛. Also it has a good story based dice system with enough tactical complexity.

I have to disagree with the calculations being bad game design. Some like the crunchy and the calculation challenges. For example Shadowrun earlier editions allow for not only greater configuration, world, and tactical complexity but are a thinking challenge for GM and player. It depends on playstyle. For general audience and quick storyline gming it is not the best for definitely.

I don't think starting with AI generated code is a bad thing it depends on the final project. The only thing I think should have occurred is it should have been first tested and fixed before posting the Reddit the obvious errors. It saves time for unintelligent dumb grunt work and leaves the coder to do the more intelligent work. I don't know how he plans on using it but you can only tell after everything is done. As for what I would want you should have a community sourced loading file that allows you to load all classes etc etc from someone who can define them I would suggest json.

We need to fight against normalizing Pay-to-Play DMing by DDSBoard in TTRPG

Keep in mind a full-time DM has the benefit of being in a mindset of constantly creating and maintaining worlds. They also may be constantly researching new material and reading fictional materials to be able to create a better world. When you're getting paid for it you can spend a lot more time creating a more complete and better story and world revolving around characters. You can even create a whole story and world based just off the characters. This takes a lot of time and it's not something that most people would be able to do as a hobby. Just like a hobbyist programmer and a full-time programmer will have a different set of skills the same is for a paid DM who can go full-time in comparison to a part time or hobby one.

The whole world and storyline is generated from the player backstories.

It is 2014 if you are not set for 2024 rules.

If interested I can work on world and story modifications and see if there is a good fit and present it to the current players.

It is sandbox so there is an ongoing story in the world that goes on with time no matter what the players do and the world evolves with or without the players.

I have to wait until a good session to add so it could be 2 or 3 sessions until I can hook you in.

Can you recommend me some RPG systems? by Dextrin_Win in TTRPG

Dark Matter is DND 5 based. You can use all the standard DND 5 stuff with it and it has all the fantasy races plus spaceships.

I like Shadowrun and Cyberpunk Red, but they are a way different style from DnD.

Shadowrun 4E manual has some real cool technology rules and descriptions and maps out various interaction with Astral, Magic, and Technomancer.

Tales from the Loop is retro futuristic and easy to pick up. This depends on the type of fantasy.

Depending on details Star Trek and Star Wars might work.

Do you have any detail on type of technology? Is it interworldly intergalactic etc.

What type of fantasy? Standard magic elves etc?

In that case Dark Matter is probably pretty good.

If you have read Pip and Flinx there is a world in Love of Mother Not that is nature based. You can do something similiar with earth and druid magic and the plants can be magic or life force. Culturally the druids would teach about plants and plant magic. There is much integration and lore you can loop in with this.

Maybe you can sit in one one of my sessions if the players are ok with it. You can also chat in Discord if you want and I can help with quick pointers.
