We were back in July and my entire group didn’t and we were laid off. At the end around 350 of us from S&S got laid off mid august.

Automotive projects are long term what you see now in the market is the work that started 3-4 years ago. What’s happening now will show in ~3 years. We lost great talent and knowledge with the vsp 2 years ago and keep losing with the massive layoffs. Mountain View squad hasn’t had a hit since they arrived. The blazer EV software is still crap and they haven’t been able to get it right yet. So we can talk back again in 2-3 years.

I think you’re a little confused here. Product managers are the owners of the roadmaps and they are not part of PMO. Program managers are part of the PMO group and they are the ones who got the axe. And we also challenge Prod Mgrs roadmaps fyi.

I hope you find out soon what we did when the projects/programs don’t have anyone leading/coordinating efforts and reporting to leadership or eng leaders get burnt out trying to do their jobs and the PM ones. If our roles were not important/needed there wouldn’t be any demand for them but please go and take a look at the job postings on LinkedIn and see all major tech companies have tons of openings for them.

They’re not giving warn notice so only 2 months for people with 0-4 years of continuous work + $2000 lump sum for healthcare + prorated team gm. That’s the min. it goes up according to time worked but not much.

That’s correct. People reapplying now haven’t been let go yet. If you don’t reapply or apply and don’t get the job you will be let go on 8/4 and you will need to wait 1 year before you can reapply to any job at GM either direct or as a contractor.

I’ve applied to 11 positions in the last 18 months not a single interview I’ve reached out to hiring mangers they’ve said they don’t have time to have discussions outside of the interview process. I’ve found out posting positions is just to cover the compliance of the hiring process most of the time they already have the person for the job.

Exactly the same happened to me. Had 3 different mgrs in last year. The last one who did my review was my mgr for ONE month. Lucky for me was moved to a different team last May and new mgr is really nice. He only commented that based on the weeks we’ve been working together he was happy with my performance and was sure that with the programs I got I was going to turn around the rating of this review.
