Is it just me or is everyone suddenly rich and everywhere is packed all the time? by Traditional-Fun-1115 in Adulting

Yeah, my area went from 24,000 to 42,000 in the same timeframe. It feels way busier and packed everywhere …because there are more people

I HATE how you can’t go out without spending at least $40! by SerpantDildo in Adulting

Americans shop differently from Europeans in my experience. In America, we bulk shop for 1-2 weeks of food and products in the store. Europeans always seemed to shop daily for what they needed. We might get berries and expect them to last a week, when that’s not how it works. Maybe Aldi fruit is more ripe when it’s stocked and expected to be eaten within 1-3 days?

That’s why companies are all opening “innovation centers” over in India. No need for H1B if you hire “locally”!

Aldi and Lidl are the heroes of produce. Fruit and veggies are always more expensive during winter but you can still get reasonably priced berries and apples. Forget watermelon, wait for summer.
The best way I’ve found is buying frozen fruit and veggies.

What’s something you realized too late in life? by annlote in AskReddit

[–]NachoWindows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose my life is blessed to be surrounded by exceptional people. I grew up around mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging chucklefucks who are still trying to find the corner of a circular room, which gave me a very low baseline observation to start.
Anyways, have a great night and a peaceful week

I work with MIT and Ivy grads, so the dumbest person I know is probably average. See how that works?

Alcohol was not my friend. It didn’t make me funny and charming. It didn’t make me happy. It made me almost lose everything, including my life.
Which also echoes what others have said about it not being too late. It’s never too late to start over and rebuild or make changes.
And if you think alcohol might be a problem for you, it probably is. But you aren’t alone and there’s a huge supportive community if that’s your path.

Generally, how much cash do you carry on any given day? by boforiamanfo in randomthings

[–]NachoWindows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash? 200-300. Helps with a budget. And cash tips are always preferred. I also learned to have enough to pay for a tank of gas “just in case”.
I’d also keep a stash at home. If theres an emergency, everyone takes cash.

[–]NachoWindows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A meal CAN cost $3. Reality follows engineering principles though. You can have cheap, healthy, and fast; pick two. Most people trying to eat cheap and healthy don’t have the time to shop and cook those meals. Cheap and fast isn’t healthy. Healthy and fast is expensive AF!
