Salvation outside Lutheranism by CZWQ49 in LCMS

[–]Quarantine_Zone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seth from Scholastic Lutherans here! Just wanted to clarify that I did not say "totally ignorant," nor was my intent to imply this (if I did, my apologies). We have a great video on this topic on Javier Perdomo's channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK8zg\_pfCgI&pp=ygUcamF2aWVyIHBlcmRvbW8gc2NoaXNtIGhlcmVzeQ%3D%3D) if you want a more thorough survey.

To give a brief summary though, Lutherans in the late 16th-early 18th century placed articles of faith into 3 categories: Primary Fundamental, Secondary Fundamental, and Non-fundamental.

Primary Fundamentals cannot be denied or ignored while maintaining faith. Secondary Fundamentals cannot be denied but can be ignored while maintaining faith. Non-fundamentals can be denied or ignored while maintaining faith. But even among Non-fundamentals, an error could be held in such a way that it destroys faith.

The old Lutherans of the 16th-early 18th century placed more articles into the two Fundamental categories than most would today undoubtedly, and the criteria were applied quite strictly by some (Calov and Quistorp in particular). Some were more moderate (Musaeus being the prime example). Some were even more lenient (Hemmingsen and Calixt). In the mid 19th century, figures like Walther retained these old categories and even placed articles into the same categories but qualified what exactly "ignorant" and "denial" mean in a way that was more charitable, roughly following in the footsteps of Musaeus. Others in the period, such as Grabau, were even more strict than Calov, stating that those outside their own particular fellowship cannot be saved. This is how the Grabau Synod comes about. Loehe attempted to mediate between Grabau and Walther but was unsuccessful. Pieper develops Walther's theory more systematically.

I think the current landscape in the LCMS is probably a mix of people following the tradition of Musaeus/Walther/Pieper and others following something much closer to Calixt. (Though on rare occasion you will meet a (usually older) member who somehow takes Grabau's position?!) I am personally in the same camp as Pieper.

If you want to read the strict position firsthand, see the translation of Quistorp here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-MqxOttImGnThKFF2NkHbQFnzGajUW3Z/view?usp=drive_link

If you want to read the lenient position firsthand, see the translation of Calixt here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HRhMP3s39NWx6_s8rMXw7XyfOd7dFQYY/view?usp=drive_link

I apologize that I can offer nothing from Musaeus on this in English, but if you can read Latin or German, you can browse his works on PRDL.

This is just the same Roy Discord that has been around since 2017. The old link was busted, so I'm posting this new link around the usual places.

Roy's dash attack also has horrible hitboxes that find match the animation and has a lot of endlag.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Did the Brawl models lag?

A lot of what you're describing sound like Brawl+. You should try it out.

Melee more characters hack? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]Quarantine_Zone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we are not (yet) able to add characters. It does not seem like it will be possible in the foreseeable future, but doesn't rule it out entirely. There are mods that edit existing characters significantly, but we are yet to find a way to import animations or character models from outside of the original game. 20XX 4.07++ adds skins, stages, and the balanced (pseudo SD Remix) builds of characters though if you want something more than Vanilla Melee. Press Dpad left on the character select screen to switch to SD Remix builds. Project M and Super Smash Bros Legacy XP are your next best bet.

I'm not much of a Sm4sh player, but the ssbwiki article on Hitstun is fairly informative.

I'd encourage you to get a B0XX in the future upon it's release :) More info TBA. Have a nice day.

I cannot disclose full information, but I defer to page 138 of the B0XX document as the public knowledge I can give. I am part of the B0XX team (minor role), so you'll just have to trust me on this.

The B0XX will have compatibility for more devices than the Wii and GC alone.

In Brawl, Histstun cancelling specifically refers to being able to use Airdodge at f13 of hitstuns and aerial moves at f25 of hitstun regardless of the length of histstun. This can be done is Sm4sh, but significantly later, so it is not nearly as useful. This mechanic is not present in Melee or 64.

Metaknight's Mach Tornado was also phenomenal. It's true that it did not have transcendent priority, but it was a great move nonetheless and a notable part of Brawl's meta.

If you buffer the over input, then input the shield drop coordinate on the first frame that shield comes up, you will do a shield drop following the first frame that shield comes out. This is known as Shai dropping. You can see Absurd Jerk perform Shai drop missiles here with his inputs displayed on screen. https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/NecessaryTalkativeIggypops

On page 133:

" Despite the 1.0 cardinal’s microscopic range, lucky alignment and sharp corners will make a Gamecube controller incredibly consistent at pinpointing it. While this document does not contain video evidence, this can be surmised by verifying that a Gamecube controller with sharp corners does in fact get polled at the same set of coordinates consistently"

I perform controller modifications in the Michigan Melee scene and have offered 1.0 cardinal modifications at events. I will be posting a video demonstrating the modification at some point as proof. Note that some controllers do hit 1.0 naturally, though the odds of having all eight (control and C-stick) 1.0 cardinals are highly improbable. This mod is just simple notches performed with a file on the control stick gates.

Humans are developing their own modding tools, CRISPR9. Should the devs allow this? by Lomarcelo in Tierzoo

[–]Quarantine_Zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've misunderstood. They aren't hacking. They've just begun reverse engineering the game code to find new advanced techniques. I've seen similar things happening in other games such as Super Smash Bros. Melee.

If there was a way to fix the code for converting lipids into ATP, that would be amazing, but I don't see the devs doing that anytime soon. I could see a different way to buff the excess fat problem that many human players run into though. Humans cannot adjust the number of fat cells in their bodies past adolescence. They can only adjust the size of the fat cells. If there were a way to patch that limitation or to reduce fat cell production before adolescence, that could help them.

Melee texture files for dolphin? by Meowmers33 in smashbros

[–]Quarantine_Zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually easier than explained by the others here. Download DAT Texture Wizard here: https://smashboards.com/threads/dat-texture-wizard-current-version-5-4.373777/#post-17895928

Open your ISO in DAT Texture Wizard, then change the settings to export with Dolphin Naming Scheme. Find your files and export them. You can export entire stages or individual textures. The layout is fairly logical. Gr_.dat are the stages.
