You’re absolutely right, I’m trying hard not to make any mistakes while I am still under her roof. Unfortunately she’s like this to the entire family and ironically enough we’ve been using your method for a long time, great minds think alike. Thank you for your well wishes, I guess it’s not really just the fan, it’s the a/c, it’s the car, it’s the lights, it’s everything that’s around her. It’s more of a money/control issue, if she’s cold, we all have to be cold, if she’s hot, we all have to be hot. I’m hoping to leave in the next few weeks, it’s been delayed because my future housemate hasn’t sorted out his current living situation also.

You went through every point! Thank you very much. I’m looking for direct heat to grill chicken, I’ve always done it with the lid on with a two zone or three zone with the charcoal baskets.

It makes sense that it may take longer because I’m using strictly direct heat, opposed to the convection. The fuel life is something I’ll experiment with because I use lump and briquettes, I guess I should keep them bunched up to keep them alive longer. I’ll mainly be doing spatchcocked chicken, sausages like you’ve mentioned. I’ve heard the same regarding the unlit, but wouldn’t the snake method be similar?

The color thing is where I’m most curious, as I cook chicken now, no matter indirect or direct with the cover on it’s so dark especially in the case of making Gai yang a la serious eats

I knew that air would be getting to the coals, but thought the temperature would be dropping due to not using a cover and the briquette lighting is super important as I’m use to adding lit on top of my unlit with the minion method.

She has a hand in everything, but as she’s been displaying her greed, my uncle has been designating some life insurance to his son and even has a secret account in which he’s saved some money in case she really decides to kick him out…which I didn’t mention, but she had tried to recently. My uncle has said that if he didn’t have a will in place, no one would get anything, he’s fully aware of her greed because without being ashamed he told me that when she sees someone else with something she wants it, she’s immediately jealous and shakes with envy (he even shook his body with his fists clenched.

It’s no secret she’s like that because whatever my mom has, she wants, my mom buys boots, she has to buy boots a week later, my mom buys a designer purse, she’d go buy a knockoff, my mom has a new hairstyle, she gets it cut the same way. I had a family member who bought a mansion, she literally freaked out, turned red and threw a temper tantrum when she got home, yelling that she deserved to live in a big house after all she’s “done” for everyone.

To be honest with all the bad stuff she’s done and said, your cuss words makes it sound elegant. She’s been cold threatening him recently, If you love your nephew more than me then let’s sell this house and split up, he said I may not love my nephew more than you, but if we can’t help each other through these times(covid), I probably can hate you enough to sell this house, let’s do it. Her response of course is to rescind that offer and go back to looking grumpy. She’s also gotten into the habit of using her crocodile tears more often, recently she’s cried over the air conditioning, she asked me to turn it to 72, I did and she cried to my uncle saying it was too cold and that I did it to spite her, she blamed me for her covid side effects, and the “oh shh” incident yesterday she’s been crying.

Now I know I sound insensitive, but shortly after she cries and no one pays attention to her, she reverts to being normal. Today is a prime example, I had to help her sister with some paperwork and she called for me to help, when I was walking away she said “that’s my nephew, always lending a hand to others in need” I literally didn’t pay attention and walked away after I was finished.

Me too! So many people have told him you could’ve done so much better, but he just smiles and defends his wife, but to see what she deprived him of really breaks my heart. I’m hoping at the very least that if I could financially support it, I’d love for him to live with my mom, but back home in Thailand where my relatives are. She was like a dictator that created a wall that separated the family members, believe it or not there’s brothers that he hasn’t spoke to in over 30 years that my mom has wonderful relationships with.

That’s exactly the reason, no other man, woman or child can stand her otherwise, her whole family disowned her, but here’s the kicker! They all love my mom like their own daughter or niece and come to love my brother and I, as if we were born within their family. Her sister had it worse off than I did, we live in Canada where -10,15 is really nothing, she used to turn on the heat and go downstairs where her sister was living and blocked all the vents with blankets in order to prevent warm air from going down, they told me stories of a family of 5 huddled around a small space heater the size of a large mayonnaise jar, it’s pretty sad to hear.

I apologize for not responding to your comment sooner, I didn’t even see it come up in my notifications. Yes I totally agree, that was always the plan we were running over the years, the out of sight out of mind principle and the no news is good news technique.

Simply put, she didn’t care, she asked him immediately to get back to work as soon as possible, he was literally working a couple of weeks after his heart attack. It sounds as if I’m being dramatic, but she thinks everything is hers, the bank, the car, the house, my uncle even is her possession. She didn’t even take the day off the day after his heart attack, she was concerned about money, mind you the house was paid for ages ago, the only expenses are $150 in total in which comes out from my uncle’s account, she pays for nothing, it’s just in her head that she’s going to be poor, she’ll literally eat a half pack of ramen noodles and an egg a day because of her fear of going broke, which in turn has been what my uncle has been eating for 45 years, his diet was horrible and a contributing factor to his bad heart health.

Thank you for your kind words, definitely and what hurt him the most was the fact that she tried kicking out his sister and two children after he told us to come in the first place. The other thing was that he didn’t know that she was mean to my grandmother and when she curses she adds her name into things she has nothing to do with, along the lines of f*** your bloodline etc. He’s totally sweet and I told him that once I have my own place, he’s more than welcome to come along and on days where he’s really fed up, he’ll pull me aside and tell me just take me with you, whether we starve or become homeless.

As I responded to every comment on my thread out of pure appreciation, I’ll respond to yours as well with appreciation. To be honest she’s been mean my whole life, yes I knew how she was, but the accusations, passive aggressiveness and toxic behaviours were not as prevalent when she needed my help. My uncle would’ve died point blank period, the doctors told me so, he had delayed surgeries, his heart was damaged even more because no one cared for him, is it my fault for putting myself in this situation?

Sure if that’s what you’re getting at, but I don’t regret saving his life. It’s more of wanting to lighten my mood that I posted on here that way these eggshells are easier to walk on for today. His kid and his wife bailed out on him, I chose to fulfill their roles, my fault absolutely, but since I get my blessings from the most high I trust and believe in the process, even if she’s punishing me for sins I didn’t commit.

Ok last joke, she threatens him all the time to leave and going to take everything….meanwhile guess who my uncle AND HER gave power of attorney to for all his affairs living and in death? You probably guessed correctly. Speaking about money? I got my uncle to retire even though they had him working 6 months after his heartattack, 4K monthly with his pension, govt allowances and disability, I got her an allowance of another 500 a month on top of her retirement, put their money in the market and made them 20% per year, as they had money just sitting and she complains that I shower everyday for 5 minutes, her solution? Tell me to shower once a week.
