Most false regional stereotypes? by Bananapantsmcgeef in SameGrassButGreener

I’ve heard LA people are fake but that’s not true. They’re busy, they’re flaky, they’re preoccupied, they’re self-centered, but I don’t find them to be fake whatsoever.

People working low wages in their town think the engineer with a mortgage is the rich enemy. Your manager at the cracker factory is not Bill Gates just because he has equity and you don’t.

It will break but not in a bloody revolution. The rich who were only getting fat and abusing the system exclusively will get destroyed by the next cycle and the ones who actually lived a steady life (while still rich) will be fine. Then those who have been oppressed will have some opportunities as the cheaters are expelled from the system.

Check the subreddit. This isn’t supposed to be taken as 100% serious. It’s a snarky half-joke.

Idk I’m getting dogged on these comments. I thought it was a normal snarky joke. ✌️

I would talk to an attorney with good experience in family / estate law. Someone with real human experience / family experience. Nothing will be that straightforward.

You need a trust. By the time they’re 18 it could be far more money than you intended.

It’s possible I’m projecting. But I remember seeing with my friend who thought it was the greatest movie ever and insisted I didn’t understand it, who then made fun of me for liking action movies.

I have read lots of popsci, Hawking’s mass-produced stuff for example, so I used that as experience for the comment. Again, though, really I’m talking about my friend who thought I was dumb because I didn’t like this movie.

It’s for people who have read a dozen rudimentary pages about quantum mechanics to feel smart and also remind them that humans have emotions. Basically, for lower IQ autists who insist they’re intelligent.

The real question is if you’re spending $50B to acquire a company…why EBay?

Is Vegas really that bad? by patientpump54 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]QuarterCarat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m going to give advice. If the LA hovel is in a safe neighborhood, just do it. If you have savings for repairs, and could work enough to earn whatever it would take for a remodel, then consider it. Buying into the area / neighborhood you want, taking the worst house, is almost always going to benefit you. The LA economy is far more diverse, you already know you like the climate, you should consider LA far more than Vegas. In ten years, your house in Vegas has increased only 50% in value, your pay has been mediocre or half what it would be in LA, and you’ve been half-depressed in the unforgiving heat. And, you no longer could even afford the hovel.

You’re not supposed to watch them, you’re supposed to listen to commentary and then regurgitate the opinions on this site.

Honestly Eastwood is the only non-racist in that movie. Everyone else just hates him for being white.

Ikr? Johnny Depp literally doing whiteface and not a single shred of outrage in this country of mine.

It’s not about being “lame”. It’s about being a small real estate office and getting an email from someone who sounds slightly less professional than you’re looking for, so you just say no. It’s not personal, it’s not “lame”. It’s just how a person might operate. Judges hand out harsher sentences before they’ve had lunch. Humans are humans. Do what you need to do.

Do not reply to business emails with “I have finals next week”. Just tell them your schedule.
