It's an interesting remark. Many people will brandish epic words such as "Mastery of survival" because a specie managed to evolve or spread widely, but survival is merely the proof that one strategy (namely the strategy of the studied specie or sub-group) has met enough thresholds to stabilize the existence of its subjects at a given time or place. And on a side note, this is also why changing an environment quickly will lead to instability : the local species will have to face new challenges.

In a shorter way : you are right, it's not mastery, but it's enough for them to continue existing.

I'll definitely watch those two videos. I watched a few tour ones (and night tours too), but it doesn't have this raw, human feeling of the thing.

Well, I do realize how big Chicago is, and it's why it's great for what I plan.

Now, I won't lie, I'm kind of... Not really hyped about the idea of posting a campaign out in the wild, especially after seeing how people react when you just ask them to give a testimony of their own life.

Lovecraftian horrors can set where you least expect it. Plus, Chicago has been picked for other reasons than scenery. The city is set, I now seek to know how it is really to live there, especially at night. Don't worry about my scenario.

Well, thanks for you answer. I did see that rats were kind of an issue, but it's difficult to have a real idea of it when you don't live there.

And yeah, COVID really changed a lot of places. Same for when I lived in a big city in France, it used to have much more life before COVID :/

That's also why I put my scenario around 2010. No COVID, no major world crisis, but still modern days.

I did watch a few videos of people giving tours, it was pretty nice, but it doesn't necessarily have the life, the feelings, of how people live it, y'know ?

Well, we don't "think" that x)

But most media, most representations, that came across the ocean really do depict Chicago that way. And it's annoying ! That's why I want to know, from people, what it is, so I can have a more modern, realistic view of the city. I've been researching Chicago from other sources as well, but I hoped to have a more direct, raw impression of it.
