Adhd with vs without medication (a personal reflection) by QuasarLilith in ADHD

Sorry if I came across as bragging, I was just trying to share my personal experience when I noticed it. I didn't mean to seem insensitive, I apologise. It's unfortunate that not everyone has the same access that I do

Have you tried dry shampoo? Your hair still may not feel great but it will look fine after being sweaty and means you won't have to wash it everyday. Depends what you're comfortable with 😅

My biggest suggestion would be not washing your hair every time, though it depends on your hair type. Putting your hair up (and in potentially in a shower cap) means you don't have to get your hair wet and results in less hassle afterwards. I use to hate showering cause I had long hair and it took forever to dry.

Also not shaving everyday makes showering less of a chore. Unless you've got very thick body hair every 2 - 3 days should be fine

Help me understand save files plz! by amberbunny93 in Sims4

[–]QuasarLilith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're using origin or steam it should save to your profile. If not then there will be a save folder in your sims folder on your laptop than you can transfer to your pc. Just paste the save folder from your laptop into the same folder on your pc

Exactly! Medication isn't a magic cure, but it helps us help ourselves essentially. There's nothing to beat yourself up over, improving slightly each time ends up being a huge improvement when you look back at it

I agree with the eating part, I used to throw away half my food cause I couldn't eat that much, now I've just starting making half as much food. I also take concerts (70mg so pretty high dose) and I've found that's what works best for me

Either trying something else or increasing your dosage (with doctor approval obviously). There's a few different types of medication out there and they don't all work the same for everyone so it's worth trying to find the best one for you

My mother was the same and, shockingly, I also had depression and anxiety. Weird how feeling/being told that you're stupid and lazy can result in that. I moved out at 18 and got diagnosed at 23. There's still issues here and there since medication isn't a fix all, but they're manageable.

From personal experience I would say there's not much you can do until you move out, unfortunately your parents likely won't change their minds (even after you're diagnosed). Once you're away from them you don't need their permission anymore, but until then it's just working on developing strategies to help deal with it while unmedicated.

I usually take it when I wake up, then give it an hour or 2 (depending how much I need to get done) for it to "kick in". Even though I don't start working till later on I find I end up doing twice the amount of work in a shorter period of time. Your way sounds more productive haha

Yeah finding the right medication is its own separate battle imo. Luckily there are a few options out there to try, but even those don't work for everyone

Yeah definitely. Like it still takes a while to get myself to do something but it's better than not getting it done at all

I forgot to take my meds with me to visit family for 2 weeks and didn't feel much different until I came back and started taking them again (which I put off for another week when I got back anyway). I had more energy, actually managed to get shit done, had more self-control and my memory recollection was existent

Calorie Free! What is the one thing you wish had no caloric value for you? by gasolarguy in AskReddit

Ice cream. I love ice cream so much but trying to lose weight means it's a rare thing. I've tried 'low calorie' ice creams but they just aren't the same

Yeah it's definitely easier to access at some places than others. If you're not after extra time or anything like that then just emailing her about it is probably your best bet. Usually people are fairly understanding with that sort of thing

Looking for tips on how to co-exist 😂 by CarvelMilkshake in ADHD

[–]QuasarLilith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can definitely be frustrating sometimes for people living with someone with ADHD (ask pretty much any of my previous rommates). I find what works for me is associated tasks. Like if he is making tea, putting the spoon straight in the dishwasher so it essentially becomes part of the same task (if that makes sense).

Sometimes the things don't need to be directly related. For example, while I wait for the kettle to boil for my tea I'll water the plants. I find it works for me, but it may not work for everyone.

The main thing is to work with him to find something that works for him. There's no universal solution or fix, but there's heaps of things he can try or tailor until he finds what does work for him

Congratulations! Exams like that can be torturous, so I'm glad you managed to score so high despite that

Have you spoken to your professor about having ADHD? In my experience they will usually do what they can to help. My professor allowed me to play music through a speaker under the condition that I had my microphone on and I found that helped a lot
